Arguelles is expected to receive a contract in the neighborhood of those given to Dayan Viciedo(notes) and Jose Iglesias, two other high-profile Cuban defectors. Viciedo, a third baseman, signed last winter with the Chicago White Sox for $10 million, and Iglesias, a shortstop with whom Arguelles defected last year in Canada, received an $8.2 million major league contract with the Boston Red Sox
Jeff Passan lists the Rays amongst the four teams most interested in the Cuban arm, alongside the A's, M's, and Yankees -- who also have Aroldis Chapman on their plate.

Considering how Viciedo and Iglesias have panned out so far
I’m not sure he’s worth the money. Viciedo’s already barely a prospect at this point. Iglesias has a spectacular glove from what I’ve heard, but his bat disappointed (AKA, a Rey Ordonez clone). If he’s going to get a bonus in the neighborhood of $8 million, based on the scouting reports I’ve heard of him, it seems like greatly overpaying compared to trying to sign the top Dominicans for the $3 – $4 million range.

Stats in the AFL don't matter
It’s basically the annual tournament held in Imaginationland.

They don't matter.
It’s like putting a lot of weight in spring training stats, only worse because the sample size and competition levels are lower.
