Topkin: Rays working on Iwamura deal
We've heard Minnesota is the team involved from one source, but as of yet cannot confirm it, so take that with a large grain of salt for now.
Roger Mooney says it's a NL team and the deal will be completed by tonight.

I hope AF convinces the Twinkies that a Aki for Liriano swap.
We’ll even throw in Gabe Gross and Dan Wheeler.

Yeah, that's why I suggested it. I know he may never be what he was pre-TJ
but if we could get someone with even a SMALL chance to pitch like that again that then you do it. Considering Aki probably walks for nothing if we don’t trade him.
IIRC he was excellent after his call-up in 2008.

I wrote an article that he was a player to keep an eye on. I’ve never twisted your words Cut and paste, Stern, cut and paste.

All day long i've had my eye on his 204/283/299 slash line at AA
He looks ready to me
Not sure what good the Rays can get
I have lived in the Twin Cities for six years and have heard the constant complaining from the media and Twins fans about the lack of a solid second baseman. I think Aki is a perfect fit for the Twins. I’ve been mulling this over in my head for a few months. But the problem I have with the trade is that I don’t think the Twins are willing to give up anything that will be worthwhile for the Rays. Nathan? No way. Mauer? That’s stupid. There relivers suck. If you paid any attention to them this year you would see the starters put in a decent game and then the relievers would make it close. There have also been rumblines that the Twins minor league system has weakened. Unless the Rays thrown in another nice piece I don’t think they will get good value. But then again what the hell do I know?
Sorry for the typos
I caught a couple after the fact. Rumblines should be rumblings. :)
I agree that Rochester has not been a great team the last couple of years
If Guerrier didn’t have so many innings the last couple of years I would love to take him. Unfortunately, he’s in his last season before arbitration as near as I can tell and wouldn’t be enough for Aki. Although, we don’t have much leverage so who knows.

Im guessing its a non 40 man lower level arm with upside
The fact that were getting anything is pretty amazing given the fact that teams know we have no plan on keeping Aki.

I was thinking in the ballpark of Aneury Rodriguez

I don't think we will be able to get a catcher worth salt in AA or AAA for Aki
I’d rather get a lower level arm with upside.

I did get to see my fellow UCF alum Drew Butera in quite a few games this year, but he's not very good
I just loved yelling UCF as he was running down to first.

Is he any better than what the Rays have?
I've got it
Aki for Redmond. Then we can have Zaun and Redmond. Sweet Jesus!! :)
Mooney says NL team:
The Tampa Bay Rays are rumored to be in the process of finalizing a deal that will send second baseman Akinori Iwamura to a National League team. The trade is expected to be completed Tuesday night.

ATL, WAS, PIT, STL, and that's about it.
NYM/HOU don’t have the money and have 2B already under deals.

trading Doumit for Aki
allows the GM to say that the latest vet moved was not for a prospect, at least

I doubt Huntington cares about that either.

The Pirates make so little sense from a standpoint of players they could use. They're not even close to being a winning squad.
I can't wait until we trade him for a reliever.
Aki for Chris Perez.

YES, LET'S GIVE AWAY LEGITIMATE EVEN MORE LEGITIMATE TALENT FOR AN INJURY-PRONE TROUBLEMAKING OUTFIELDER. THAT WOULD BE A MAGNIFICENT TRADE.
I can't wait until we trade him for a reliever.
Would it be legitimate?
