Rays Select Armando Zerpa In Rule 5 Draft; Keep Aneury Rodriguez

The Rays selected LHP Armando Zerpa with their pick in the Rule 5 draft, but no analysis needed as he was shipped to the Dodgers soon after in exchange for cash; somebody needs to pay for Rafael Soriano's upcoming salary.
The bigger news is Aneury Rodriguez went unselected and will remain property of the Rays. Minor bullet dodged there, but it was unlikely that he would've lasted the entire season on a 25-man roster. The Rays selected RHP Miguel Sierra from the Cubs in the Triple-A phase and lost LHP Mike Wlodarcyzk to the Nationals. The organization also lost Doug Salinas to the Reds in the Double-A portion of the draft.

If a team takes its own player in Rule 5
It would still need to leave him on the 25-man roster and subject him to claim by the rest of the league if they try to send him down. Braves did it a while back, but can’t remember with whom.

Claim would be for 25 man or 40 man?
I thought rule five claims were only to add to 25 man with the same whole season restriction applying. If the player cleared waivers, they would be offered back to original team.
