Bright Spots: All-Time (Devil) Rays Team
How can you have an "all-time team" when the franchise has only been around as one year longer then RJ has been born? Well, it's simple. Just like with the "Greatest (Devil) Rays to Ever Wear..." series we will celebrate where the Rays have been, where the Rays are, and where the Rays will go. The following polls will discuss a (Devil) Rays all-time team.
What are the rules? A player HAS to have AT LEAST played 100 games for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays or Rays. If you feel that a player has been left off of the poll unjustly, then make a case for him. All players who have taken the field for the (Devil) Rays will be mention, just not voted on.
Is this poll all about defense? No, not really. This poll is just about voting for your favorite catcher, shortstop, rightfielder...
Today, we discuss Sandy Kazmir's favorite position: catcher. Here is a list off all who have played for the St. Pete Slammers:
John Flarherty (1998-2002)
Mike Difelice (1998-2001, 2008)
Tim Laker (1998,2005)
Toby Hall (2000-2006)
Paul Hoover (2001-2002)
Javier Valentine (2003)
Brook Fordyce (2004)
Robert Fick (2004)
Charles Johnson (2005)
Pete LaForest (2003,2005)
Kevin Cash (2005)
Dioner Navarro (2006-2009)
Josh Pual (2006-2007)
Shawn Riggans (2006-2009)
Raul Casanova (2007)
Michel Hernandez (2008-2009)
John Jaso (2008)
Gregg Zaun (2009)
The Candidates:
John Flarherty played 461 games at catcher for the Devil Rays where he hit .252 and had 35 homeruns.
Mike Defelice played 240 games at catcher where he hit .248 and had 82 RBIs.
Toby Hall played 574 games at catcher where he had 44 homeruns and hit .262.
Dioner Navarro played in 396 games where he had 28 homeruns and hit .248. Navarro was a American League All-Star in 2008.
So, Draysbay, I turn to you...
