Bright Spots: All-Time (Devil) Rays Team... First Base

Previous Polls: The Greatest (Devil) Rays to Ever Wear...

*******************************************************************************************************************

All-Time (Devil) Rays Team

Catcher: (Still Pending)

*******************************************************************************************************************

What are the rules? A player HAS to have AT LEAST played 100 games for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays or Rays. If you feel that a player has been left off of the poll unjustly, then make a case for him. All players who have taken the field for the (Devil) Rays will be mention, just not voted on.

Is this poll all about defense? No, not really. This poll is just about voting for your favorite catcher, shortstop, rightfielder...

Today, we'll discuss first base. Here is a list off all who have played for the Skyway Scrappers:

Tough one.

Slight edge to McGriff. He was more of a consistent hitter.

Sir Carlos

There’s a slight disadvantage for McGriff, since I was only like 14 when he was here. But Pena should still win this one fairly easily.

I went Crime Dog

But with my heart and not my head. I know that if Pena has probably helped the team more than McGriff. But as long as it’s close…

We need to pick a position for Huff and have him be the candidate there.

He’s probably the best hitter we’ve ever had, so he’d likely make the all-time team. Where, though is the question.

I went with Carlos Pena. No doubter in my mind.

Well,

he will be a candidate for 3B and DH. Longo will probably win 3B but he has a shot at DH. He won’t qualify for RF, he only played 98 games.

K. DH it is.

I wish we had him in his prime to DH right now. I used to love watching him hit.

hitting, yes.

Running, dear god no! Who would win in a race? Hall, Burrell, or Huff? All when they were playing for the Rays.

Blah!

In 2006 there was nice statue of Toby Hall

That was erected in down the first base line. Little did anyone know that the statue was ACTUALLY Toby Hall running at full speed. He finished his sprint in enough time to realize that the season was over and he was traded to L.A.

Blah!
