Friendly Note
Just wanted to remind everyone, we are not going to speculate on PED users. If there's proof (a.k.a. what we just went through with Alex Rodriguez, Barry Bonds, ect) that's one thing, but wild speculation will not be tolerated. It's not about ignoring PEDs or anything of that sort either, it's about not contributing to a witch hunt.
Thanks.

Call him Allan
only his friends can call him Bud
Anyway, as I was lying in the puddle, I think I may have found a way for us to get Bonds and Griffey, and we wouldn't have to give up that much.

And let that be the last on this topic
Let’s PLAY BALL
Awe You're No Fun.
I love speculating about things with no proof lol.
On a side not the A-Rod confirmation caught me off guard. I never even suspected him. I guess Jose Canseco is batting 1.00 on accusations when it comes to juicing. It will be interesting to see who he outs next.

Censorship is the first tool of the fascist
just saying. Also, I’m not here to talk about the past, lets talk about kicking some ass all over the place this year. Any word on new sponsors now that we aren’t known as the Tampa Bay Lepers?

Most players used
why is this a surprise to anyone? I knew people at the high school level that used steroids 20 years ago….think about the stakes at the pro level. It was rampant…Canseco & Caminetti (boy, that’s some bad spelling) knew what they were talking about.
Nobody cares about historic golf records falling
now that they are using titanium clubs, no one cares about swimming records falling now that they are using space-age suits, no one talks about the advances in nutrition, medical health, nor equipment. What is the difference? The legal argument is garbage, but then again I’m pro-choice.

The Difference is
Titanium Clubs are not banned by the PGA and neither are the swim suits by the IOC.
Juicing is banned for a reason. It alters the #’s of the game that we all love. There are records being set that will never be broken because these world class athletes juiced and went beyond what any normal world class athlete can accomplish.

You are making a lot of unexamined assumptions, among them about the actual effects of peds.
And there is no such thing as a rule if it has no possible means either of discovery of violation or penalty for one. And until the agreement with the Union there was neither.
But the point is to compare athlete to athlete
not athlete + technology of era to athlete + technology of era. If this is truly about numbers then why does not one care about track records or swimming records falling every year. Do you honestly think the athletes are better today than they were back then, and if you believe this is it based on modern science or genetics? Juicing is banned because of politics, equipment is not because of sponsors.

yup
I was on a real bad..H.S. basketball team in ’03 (3-12ish conference record) and had 5 of 12 teammates using steroids openly, none had hopes of doing anything after H.S. sports wise either, it was funny to see those same kids in college bloat up about 40 pounds when they stopped working out constantly. I gained my 30lbs naturally lol

I agree there is no need to discuss it
I also think it is idiotic to compare eras anyways and that baseball fascination with historical numbers is a bit absurd. I also think nearly all players were taking something. It is pretty prevalent in the high school and college ranks. The MLBPA were not the only ones tipping players off about getting tested. It happens at other levels also. Either way I personally do not care as it WAS a level playing field. In 20 years people are going to be doing pretty intense things to their body. Not just athletes…everybody. I think medical advances are going to go pretty far. None of us are going to be totally “natural”. So sooner or later people are going to have to give up this fascination with historical numbers. Although like I said comparing eras is stupid at the start.
