Semi-SABR Fantasy league

I need people to join and the only reason I post this here is I know a lot of you love SABR stats and Id like to have interested managers who will enjoy playing this style league all year. Im not as big into SABR stats as most of the people here but I played in a SABR fantasy league last year and I found it interesting so Im creating my own this year with a few minor changes. Its a 12 team 8 x 8 roto league and I tried to incorporate SABR stats along with making fielding, hitting, starting pitching, and relief pitching all important. It's not a finished product and I am open to tweaking the scoring/settings but for now I am looking to see who is interested...Heres the scoring cats...

Hitting-

Runs, Hits, OBP, SLG, Net SB, Ks and the 2 fielding categories are Errors and OF assists

Pitching-

Wins, ERA, Whip, K/BB, K/9, Holds, Net Saves, Relief Wins

The starting positions are C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, LF, CF, RF, Util

SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P, P, and 5 bench spots

^^none of this is set in stone and Im open to suggestions/ questions. So if you are interested let me know and leave your email and I'll shoot you the info. Thanks

I'll play

so long as you can find a site that keeps track of this stuff.
-Live Draft is the best
- If you want to do it keeper that would be fun too
- Relief wins are good, so long as they aren’t being double counted as wins as well (in which case that would make them MORE valuable than starting wins)

Why don't you just post your email on your profile?

And have us contact you.

I don’t like putting my email up on message boards. I have enough Viagra, and I’m fairly happy with my mortgage payments.

ok my email is now listed on my profile

anyone is welcome to join AS LONG AS YOU STAY ACTIVE

Like I said Im still open for ideas for changing the scoring but here’s my reasoning behind the current categories so you can prepare for what type of players to pick…

Runs- you will need some run scorers

OBP- combining BB + AVG rather than just using AVG.

SLG- more of a true indicator of power than HR and RBI

Hits- I figured if we just used OBP it would be easy to allow players with high BB totals to cover up for guys who dont get hits, so this way there will be added value for base hits

Net SB- Stolen bases – caught stealing, makes steals tougher to come by

Ks- you will lose value for hitters with high K totals, I figured this would help force your offense to be well rounded

Errors- its tough to use defensive categories in fantasy baseball, I thought this would be the best one to use if we used any

Outfield assists- Since OFers make far less errors then infielders, this will give added value to outfield defense

Wins- Maybe not very SABRish, but I think its a good fantasy category

ERA- Again, I think this is a necessary fantasy category

WHIP- Along with having a low ERA you will need to have pitchers that allow few baserunners

K/BB- Heres where the Sonnanstines of the world far outweigh the Edwin Jacksons of the world. You will have to manage high Ks with low BBs

K/9- pure strikeout totals are all thats important

Holds- This adds value to non closer types of relievers

Net Saves- here is where blown saves will hurt you

Relief Wins- I was iffy on this one but I dont like using Holds as the only important reliever category

Sorry if you dont need the thorough explanation but I know even I have joined leagues before and not checked out the scoring until the season started to get under way, and struggled at first to shape my team based on the league settings. hope this helps

Simple way to work around this

Bots are not smart enough to read email addresses if you use the actual word instead of the symbol, so you type your email like so:

emailname AT service DOT com
