B.J. Upton is special
"He's special. He's special with the bat. He's special on defense. He's a special athlete and baseball player. And the thing about B.J. to this point, he's been a great athlete who is learning to become a baseball player. I thought he made significant improvement the last couple of months last year on how to become a baseball player."

Seriously, how can you add that quote without including that downs syndrome smile?

Check out my blog on (mostly ColdFusion, but some PHP) web development at kericr.wordpress.com
Did anyone see this quote?
“They keep emphasizing to take it slow,” Upton said. “If I feel OK to go on Opening Day, then that’s what will happen. But we won’t know until later in the spring.”
I am thinking with the Nando injury BJ might start in CF after all on opening day… am I missing something?
Assuming good weather
I predict he starts on April 9th vs. Boston. It’s an afternoon game, so as long as the weather holds up, why not? Then give him off the 10th and maybe the 11th (time is TBD) and let him start again on the afternoon of the 12th against Baltimore. They could also get creative in those in between games and bat him down in the order with the understanding he’s really just there to play the field for a few innings.
The average high for Boston in April is in the mid 50’s. So long as it doesn’t drop into the 40’s, I think it’s possible.
