Scott Kazmir is Happy
UPDATE, 2:53: Kazmir said everything felt good, and he was happy with his slider, which he threw about 10 times. He also experimented some with the slide step delivery out of the stretch and said he liked how it felt. Rays lead 3-1 after six innings, with Willy Aybar going deep in the fourth.
It's only his second appearance so the sliders total is unimportant, but 10 out of 55 pitches isn't overly bad. At this point him feeling good or comfortable with the grip, release, and has a general feel of command. As for the rest of his line: 4 innings, 3 strikeouts, 0 homeruns, 0 walks, and 0 hints of injury.
Good day.

55 pitchers through 4 sounded so nice from Kaz also
Lets see how our 3rd ace does tomorrow.
Evan Longoria and David Price - the fight for my heart
Beckham just made a diving catch to end the game
Could of been the last time Davis pitches this Spring.

I thought it was interesting how they brought Niemann(and Davis) in mid-inning
I’d bet Niemann is ticketed for the bullpen with Hammel in the #5 starter spot.

That's about what you would expect from a pre-2008 Kazmir.
Weee!

Eh I was a bit off.
Looks like ~20% average with a 26% thrown in.
Still, that’s nearly double last year’s usage.

I wish we still had room for Gomes on the team
I think he has a really good season for the Reds if they give him consistent ABs.
He was the odd man out
Great to see him doing well for Cincy so far.

They'll give him consistent ABs if they can tolerate his 'defense'

Their outfield has consisted of Ken Griffey Jr. and Adam Dunn.
I don’t think they’ll notice.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that.

Kaz will become more like Sabathia
as time rolls on
He too in the beginning threw way too majy pitches. The last dew years he figured it out. He wou;d try to ovepower hitters rather than pitching efficiently
You mean tall, fat, and wanting to start every 2 games?

And black.
God I hope he turns more black.

I saw Sabathia pitch out in Lakeland earlier this week
He is the fattest man I have ever seen wearing a uniform. Usually guys that fat stick to robes, mu mu’s, gigantic suspendered pants. Not C. C. It reminded me of pictures of people trying to get their arms around a redwood.
Why yes, I am this big of an asshole in person.

Went to the game and sat in the front row...
…my god, Niemann is a massive mountain of a man. Davis is freaking huge, too.
Beckham looked terrible in his one AB but the game-ending catch was sweet. Benzo looked smooth in CF.
Too bad Reds are moving out next year…very nice facility.
Jamie DeLuca
I was there today as well.
Ed Smith is showing it age, but it’s still spring training in Sarasota.
Isn't there some talk of the Red Sox moving there?
by R.J. Anderson on Mar 15, 2009 12:34 PM EDT up reply actions
There was but the stupid city won't pay for it.
Red Sox want a new facility, Ed Smith as a stadium is old and the fields are not as nice. They proposed building a new facility near by but the latest I heard it was turned.
Swav or Die.
That slider
It better be working. Let’s hope and keep our fingers crossed for good health and good form for Kaz so he can use this weapon effectively.
