Jeff Niemann, who pitched just two innings out of the pen Saturday, isn’t slated to make another start this week.
The Tampa Tribune speculates that the Rays are leaning towards Jason Hammel in the fifth spot in the rotation and Niemann in the pen, and we see no reason to disagree, even though it seems like the absolute worst way to go. Hammel is 4-13 with a 6.41 ERA in 28 career starts for the Rays.

So everything that has to do with Shields now has to revolve around him trying to put others to sleep.
