If Wade Davis pitches extremely well and earns the #5 slot out of ST, as Hickey claims he's in the mix, and he pitches the way many believe he is capable of, what happens then?
Price at most will not be with the Rays for the first two weeks to month of the season, but then will begin to strike fear in hitter's hearts for the rest of his career. But who does he overtake in the rotation?
Barring injury or setback to the Rays top four, the Rays have an interesting problem if this scenario unfolds.
Probably the easiest scenario has Davis taking Sonny's spot in 2010, with Sonny moving to the pen or getting traded. (this also takes for granted Kaz being healthy)
It sure seems like someone else will keep the seat warm for Price (provided Davis starts in the minors) and Davis becomes the waiting-in-the-wings pitcher to come up whenever a spot start or when a Rays SP lands on the 15 day DL.
No matter how this unfolds, it creates a great situation for the Rays.
