From Dumb to Dumber in DC?
"LaMar, 56, might be more eager for the position; he worked for the Nationals in 2007 and is now the Phillies' assistant GM He served under Kasten with the Braves from 1991 to '95, after which he became the Rays' GM. The Rays, an expansion team, began play in '98 and never won more than 70 games in a season under LaMar, who was fired by new ownership after the 2005 season."

From Dumber to Dumb would probably be a better title.

I'm not sure about that.
Bowden is terrible, and I wonder how Lamar would have been w/o an owner handicapping him. He may not be the best or brightest, but I’d bet he’s better than Bowden.

I want this to happen just to see if he takes Strasburg.

I've heard no rumors about LaMar in Washington. They'd be insane to choose him.
On the other hand, Gerry Hunsicker is now being reported by the Washington Post as a leading candidate for the GM position. PWN3D TAMPA PWN3D!
Seriously though, I would be thrilled if we tapped Rizzo, LaCava, or Hunsicker. The first two are new guys with lots of promise and lots of respect, and Hunsicker? Well he’s just the guy who was responsible for putting together all those great Astros teams from 1998 onwards. Near as I can tell, he was run out of town by Drayton McLane due to personality differences and nothing else.

Drafting talent was his one forte.

Paul DePodesta
Do It. I still feel bitter about what happened to him in LA, he deserves another shot.

He was a media moron
Sure, maybe he could construct a roster, but that’s only 1/3 of a GM’s job, and he was pretty bad at the other two parts.

I think
his blog is partly an effort to improve on the public relations aspect of his resume. He is a smart guy and probably will learn from his mistakes.
Also, he was harassed by Plaschke in LA from the start which may have factored in to some of his other problems.
