3/4/09 GDT: WBC Puerto Rico @ Rays
No TV or radio for this one, but we do have lineups:
Bartlett SS
Crawford LF
Longoria 3B
Kapler RF
Navarro C
Perez CF
Zobrist "DH"
Ensberg 1B
Kennedy 2B
Mitch Talbot is your starter. He's facing a pretty darn good lineup that includes Carlos Beltran. Hopefully Talbot can keep his pitches down, otherwise it has the potential to be far more ugly than the Phillies game on Saturday.

Looks like I might not be owing you anything after all
Why yes, I am this big of an asshole in person.
Bartlett
I like the experiment of batting him lead-off and encouraging him to hit more line drives. I think he’ll be well served by sliding back to the bottom of the order. A .340-.350 OBP out of the 9-hole would be nice.

Remember how we had 1 run through the first 2 games?
Such a great sign how good the regulars have looked.
Evan Longoria and David Price - the fight for my heart
Burrell scratched.
He fouled a ball off of his foot yesterday. He says that he’ll be fine. Zobrist replaces him at DH.
Drew
Eduardo Morlan = God.
New line-up, actually.

De nada.
Say, did anyone see the Rays’ version of 30 and 30? I think it started at 6. I am at work, so I’ll only be able to see the re-run.

In about 75 minutes World Baseball Classic Tonight on the MLBN should have some highlights.

There is no way of winning an argument with someone like that
Although it provides much humor…and reinforces this
DRaysBay is home to “progressive statistical analysis and reasoned argument.”
This is like watching paint dry.
But, go Rays!

All and all I am impressed with how well Talbot is handling a veteran Puerto Rican line-up

maybe he wants to be at least considered for the #5
but he would have to be Johan Santana 2.0 the rest of the way to win.

Well, Talbot is making Giovanni Soto his bitch
2k’s against Soto.
However, Talbot has surrendered two hits to Alex Rios. Not so good, but still very impressed thus far from what Talbot has brought with the exception being the Rios’ at bats.

per the heater
Update 8:35 p.m. The Rays got on the board in the fifth in an interesting way.
With Fernando Perez on third and two outs, Adam Kennedy laid down a bunt. Perez hesitated. And it appeared Puerto Rico would be out of the inning if they had a clean throw to first.
But they didn’t, the throw pulled the first baseman off the bag, and Kennedy was safe, scoring Perez.
Kennedy then got thrown out at the plate trying to score on a Gabe Gross single.

They keep on talking about how "great" and "awesome" the Rays are but.
Still, they are going to end up in third place. That doesn’t make any sense.

well, they made made predictions
And both who did predicted 2nd, but they didn’t say who got 1st.

Still, I find that insulting.
The Rays have not done anything to get worst. But yet someone could potentially be better.

Picking against the Rays is motivational.
They can do it all they want as far as Im concerned. These are paper guesses and all of them would have picked us 4th last year or even 5th. Keep the doubting coming !
