Pat Burrell won’t see any Grapefruit League action until at least Monday, but his absence from the field will have nothing to do with the ball he fouled off his foot yesterday that led to him being scratched from tonight’s lineup.

Burrell is flying to California tomorrow and will remain there through the weekend for his sister’s wedding. The festivities will take place in San Francisco, so Burrell figures to be plenty jet-lagged when he returns on Monday. But you’ve gotta do what you’ve gotta do for family.

As for his foot, Burrell said it feels fine, no problems.

Not to sound inconsiderate....

But what the hell is his sister thinking? Your brother is a MLB baseball player, and you set a wedding date during the season(albeit ST). People I know in professional sports usually have siblings smarter then this.

It's Spring Training

I’m sure Burrell doesn’t mind the day off.

That’s like saying why don’t professional athletes have the foresight to conceive their children so that they’re delivered in the off-season.

Yeah....

That’s a perfect analogy… comparing an unplanned event(child birth) vs. a planned event(wedding). Considering it is ST, it isnt a huge deal, although 4 days off seems a bit much. But athletes family members almost always schedule this stuff in the offseason.

I'm excited

I am going to keep my eye out in every bar I go to this weekend…and every gutter. God, could Pat be more 80’s? (refering to the pic…..well, and his everyday life and style)

While he's gone, they should put Elvis the bulldog in the lineup

He’s probably better at shagging fly balls anyway.

Vogt early, Vogt often.
