4/1/09 GDT: Twins @ Rays; Opening Day Lineup?
Game Time: 1:05
TV/Radio: MLB.com
Lineup:
Akinori Iwamura 2B
Carl Crawford LF
Evan Longoria 3B
Carlos Pena 1B
Pat Burrell DH
Matt Joyce CF
Dioner Navarro C
Gabe Gross RF
Jason Bartlett SS
Pitchers: RH James Shields
Things to watch: Hmmm the lineup today looks exactly like the opening day lineup I have in mind right down to the starting pitcher. Should we take Matt Joyce starting in centerfield as a sign? Adam Kennedy has been sent down and Joyce has made a late charge this spring.
Finally, the grapefruit season comes to an end as the Rays will head to Philadephia to make up two world series games that were won by J.C. Romero, who tested positive for a banned substance earlier on in the season.
Oh, not really? Then why are they playing two games in Philadelphia? Your guess is as good as mine.

Cheaters

You hear that Philly? You only won the WS because your team cheated. I guess that’s what it took for them to finally beat a Tampa Bay team, cheating. Enjoy your cheat-tastic cheationship you cheating cheats. Good luck recheating this year.

That and Ronde not getting that pick in front of Ryan Howard.

Raheem Morris is at heart a Philly fan.

This alone made me root against the Bucs
I was hopign Ronde broke a leg on every play. Put it this way if I was sitting in Rondes seat there is a 0% chance Howard was catching the ball.
You had to settle for him getting his ankles broken everytime a receiver made a cut

Just a Little OT: About Kazmir?
Did anybody notice his arm angle change a little bit last year? Sometimes it was like his fastball was a cutter.

That came off wrong.
I mean, his fastball has always had horizontal break to it.

No, Well
What i meant was i thought he learned how to grip a cutter like rivera and was throwing it at times. Watch some videos of him on mlb.com. He has a more horizontal break for a fastball than i thought.

Porcello gonna be on the opening Day roster in Detroit. gutsy or brilliant or dumb?
I love Porcello. not sure how I feel about this hurting his development… I don’t think its as dumb as people are saying, but i don’t know how smart it is… I’m just excited
Miller was a college pitcher though.
and was brought up without a full season under his belt. I think its different
Plus, did Miller have like a 65% GB rate in the minors?

I meant more along the lines of rushing a promising pitching prospect and them not fulfilling their promise.
I’d rather have him striking out 10+/9 than merely throwing bowling balls.
I wasn't referencing your comment.
Stop being skittish.

64% at A+ Lakeland, and 77% at AA Erie
both were smaller SS than Porcello’s 125 IP tho.
41 IP at A+
30 IP at AA
Didn't know that.
I’m unsure of what exactly the Tigers are thinking here. Yes, there is a chance Porcello is fine from the get go, but you start his clock for what amounts to on the job training. It’s not like Porcello puts them over the top either.

very risky
The guy was in single A last year, wasn’t he? It’s quite a gamble, hopefully it works out for the Tigers.

And
We happen to be facing the right hander R.A. Dickey who has a 2.61 era this spring but chokes in the regular season.
