Niemann
How many starts do you guys think Niemann will have before being replaced by David Price? Is it dependant on Price's development, or is the team just waiting for a certain date to bring him back up to the Show? I guess, in other words, when do you see David Price coming back to the Rays?
I need 18 more words so how about winning the series in Fenway? And without BJ Upton? F'n A Cotton!

I could see Price's first start sometime around May 31

I don't think the Rays have a certain date
I think it all depends on various factors. How well Price’s 3rd pitch develops, How well or not so well Niemann is pitching, where the team is in the standings, if there are any injuries.
If I had to guess it would be May or June

You have to assume th Angels may come calling?

I'm interested to see how Niemann does.
If he pitches well enough Ownership is going to have to look at the upsides of both Sonnanstine and Niemann and then decide what they want to do when they call up Price.

I don't see the advantage of keeping Isringhausen/Cormier/Nelson/Percival over Niemann.
Regardless of how he pitches over the next month or so.

Agreed
I say, move one or two of the bullpen veterans (Wheeler and Chadford preferably) and install Niemann as reliever for higher and higher leverage situations.

I love Chadford
Love ‘em. He’s always been a quality reliever and I really wouldn’t mind extending him, at much less than the 3.5 he’s making this year of course. I understand that we can get similar results from Cormier and all that, but I still think the arm angle gives him an advantage over righties that Cormier can’t have.
But yeah, I’m very ok with moving Wheeler and letting Niemann take his slot. I’m also ok with cutting Percival and letting Niemann take his spot too, so…

Chadford at less than 3.5 million is appealing
I have my doubts that we can get him for anything less than a Dan Wheeler deal. I guess I do have more faith in him than Wheeler. You are right about his arm angle vs. Cormier. I certainly don’t see Lance staying around next year unless he has an insanely good year.

He's played for 5 different teams over the last 5 years.
I don’t know how he feels about the Rays or the general Tampa Bay area, but I could see him signing for less than what Wheeler got if it meant having some stability over the next few years.

Anybody think
that if Cormier pitches well around the trade deadline we could get something for him to a team that might need a pitcher (starter or reliever)

Why does everyone want to trade Cormier?
The guy has already seen some high leverage situations and has been money. He’s signed for peanuts right now. He throws strikes. Out of the bullpen he has been exceptionally good. He’s young. I mean If we get rid of anyone it’s got to be one of the Percy/Wheeler/Chadford (who being DL’ed can’t be moved as far as I know). Chadford is pretty dang good, but Lance is right there with him (about 10% less GB’s) with more k’s at a younger age and vastly cheaper contract.

Moving
wheeler would be ideal for me, but his contract might make it tough. Joe nelson’s another option, but he’s signed to a ML deal so if we DFA him he’s gonna get picked up and we pay his salary for another team. People know the Rays have these problems, and they won’t give us much back for a meh reliever. We have great bullpen depth, the problem is no options for those guys.
I could be wrong though

I think we'll be alright
Upton for Joyce
Price for DL of the weak

The DL is for the weak

I feel he'd have value if he pitches well
moreso than someone like chadford or wheeler with that aforementioned contract. Cormier to just about anyone is a drop, but its not a huge drop in relatively low leverage situations, and if we could get a good piece(s) back (B/B-/two C/C+ prospects) would be great.
