He needs to get his shit together fast
I know it’s early, but we had a joke earlier about the most embarassing thing to happen in a game. I said having an infield single hit against you by Steven Hawking, but striking out badly against a position player pitching because the other team is out of pitchers beats it.

Male models
Just can’t hit the 76 mph fastball. It’s like Kryptonite to superman.
In the name of Shinji Mori, we shall win!

Swisher
Was he lobbing it in there? His line says he pitched a scoreless inning, what did he do, just throw 76 mph fastballs and manage to get through unscathed?

It looked like he had 2 different pitches
Something that was straight, and something that went sideways that he was kind of slinging sidearm. Neither of them looked particularly good and the ump gave him a real strike zone against the first batter who he walked. After he gave up the hit to Aybar, the ump pretty much made the strike zone be ‘anywhere near the vicinity of the plate’.
Then, Kapler decided to strike out on a floating…something… that was at the top of a legitimate strike zone.

GameDay called it one fastball and 21 changeups.
Hilarious.

He's a better pitcher than Daniel Cabrera

But he's no Tony Pena Jr.
Vogt early, Vogt often.

Gabe "Dunce" Kapler
I estimate 2 months to live down the locker room ribbing

Definitely sucks for Swisher to be on the Yankees
He looks like a fun guy who appreciated the absurdity of the situation. Everyone else was stone-faced.

He was holding back from laughing and smiling.

He also tipped his hat to Crawford on the almost-second-homer.
I love Swisher so much.

How does that inning show up for Nick Swisher in Fantasy baseball?

Nothing
Pitcher HRs don’t count nor do positional players pitching

Kapler<Swisher
It makes it worse that Swisher is left-handed and that’s the hand Kapler is supposed to hit

As you can see he got stronger as the night went on
He really knew how to hit his spots:
Kapler never had a chance:
Those 21 changeups were sick.
Pitch Type Average Speed Max Speed Average H-Break Average V-Break Number Thrown Strike Percentage Nibbleness Time to Plate
CH (Changeup)________75.29 80.2 8.51 10.72 21 57.14 5.96 0.502
FT (TwoSeam Fastball)__77.80 77.8 14.04 3.01 1 0.00 23.77 0.483
It was fun that the yankee fan I was watching the game with was able to have a smile after 8 innings torture
Do what you love to do and give it your very best. Whether it's business or baseball, or the theater, or any field. If you don't love what you're doing and you can't give it your best, get out of it. Life is too short. You'll be an old man before you know it.
