Rays vs. Mariners

The beautiful ship was upside down, flipped over by a massive wave. It was known quickly to the survivors that the the ship was taking on water quickly. Now the passengers who were zealous and overjoyed had to find a way to survive. Am I talking about the 2009 Tampa Bay Rays season? No, I am talking about the 1972 movie The Poseidon Adventure. But, the plot could easily describe the beginning of the season for our Tampa Bay Blue.

Next, on the docket for the Rays travel to the land of Starbucks and Sir Mix-a-lot to take on the Seattle Mariners. The Rays are 40-58 life time against the M's but taking the series last year 4 games to three.

Probables:

Tue, Apr 21 @ Seattle 10:10 PM   Sonnanstine (0-1) Washburn (2-0)
Wed, Apr 22 @ Seattle 10:10 PM   Niemann (0-2) Jakubauskas (1-1)
Thu, Apr 23@ Seattle 6:40 PM   Shields (2-1) Hernandez (2-0)

Time Capsule:

Now, this is one of my favorite games. Toby Hall is the difference in this game where he scored on a Jaime Moyer balk.

I can't see either side sweeping.

2/3 for the M’s. I could see something like a 1-0 M’s victory in the final game, with Shields and Felix both going all the way.

Rays gotta be getting off the shnide soon

A west coast road trip is not the most ideal senarios, but I’m picking the Rays to win 2 out of 3 anyway.

The key is to hit the ball to Yuniesky Betancourt.

Preferably a few feet to his left or right, although it’s probably better to go to just to his side of second since otherwise you run the risk of Adrian Beltre mucking things up. If properly employed this strategy will lead to at least 792 consecutive singles.
