How to Fail Against a Wild Pitcher
I like how there's almost as many blue dots as red dots.
Relative to league average, our team OPS against righties is 4% better and our team OPS against lefties is 24% better. Matt Joyce is a lefty who figures to hit quite a bit better than Gabe Gross, and probably defend a touch worse. I'm not saying it's time to make a switch, or suggesting Gross is the problem, but at some point Joyce is going to force his way onto this team. Whether that comes at Gross or Kapler's expense, well, there's little choice there, even if it means keeping another lefty bat on the bench.

Im expecting
Burrel to go on the DL for a short stint. And I will be PISSED if they bring up Rugi instead of Joyce. He is absolutely raking right now.

They shouldn't bother bringing up another position player.
Let Zobrist/Aybar handle the DH spot until Burrell is ready, should he go on the DL. It’d be better to bring up Talbot or Thayer.

Hell yeah, we should roster 13 pitchers and 12 position players. That's a great idea

OH, YOU WERE BEING SARCASTIC, HAR HAR
Our roster is configured in such a manner that we could handle Burrell being out for 15 days. The biggest problem right now is our starting pitching has been merely adequate and our bullpen’s exhausted. We need to jettison Percy and bring up someone who can pitch more than an inning, but considering they won’t cut Percy, it’s probably a better fit just to bring up Talbot when Burrell goes on the DL.
Titmonger.

Exactly
See we agree.
I’d love to carry the position player, but it makes no sense. We are loaded with flexible backups and two of them switch hit. We are okay on that front.
Where we are not okay at is in the bullpen. Our starters aren’t going deep at all and our pen is exhausted. We’ve seen some very poor outtings lately and for example Grant’s velocity has dropped. The extra bullpen arm would be more beneficial than another outfielder that probably won’t see much palying time anyways.

Adding more pitchers and keeping bad pitchers on the roster is rediculous. Teams really shouldn't have more than 12 pitchers.
Diminishing returns comes in effect hard.

I think if we had it our way, Percy would simply be gone, Talbot would be up in his place,
and then we could bring up Joyce.
But, Percy is a land baron, so he stays.

Of course
Our assumption is that we are stuck with Percival and Wheeler
Technically one of them doesn’t even count as a pitcher and the other one is maybe a half of a pitcher. So really we may have 13 bodies but only 11.5 pitchers.

I can't remember so good
How’d they do in that little tournament back in March. They won it didn’t they because of how awesome they were?

Only the very ugliest of fans would sink this low. The kind of people that never know the score
but have no problem telling you how good their team is.

I'm not sure that right now Joyce could hit so much better than Gross
to warrant the expected drop in defense. In case people were still wondering, Gabe Gross is really realy really good defensively. I just can’t see Joyce’s wOBA being over .350 this year and the platoon’s should be around .335. There is an obvious defense upgrade with the Gabes. (Hell, over the past two years which equates to about one full season Gross has been worth 2 wins in just the field alone).
