Kudos Carl Crawford
I've ranted about Carl Crawford's lack of walks and plate discipline for years. So it's pretty awesome to wake up and see Crawford's BB% at 9.5% through 100 plate appearances. It's also nice to scope his O-Swing% and see it sitting at 28.3%, a five-year low. Crawford's wOBA is .347, that's about .030 points higher than last year's, and while his OPS is a handful of points lower that's due to the lack of power. Concerning, but you have to figure some of those infield flyballs will stop being infield flyballs at some point.
Whoever is responsible for this patient Carl needs a raise, it's been a long time coming.

Yet I thought that Carl's patience was horrible..
just seems like he gets a lot of first pitch outs.
9=2 apparently
It had been.
But in the last ~two weeks he’s came a far way.

It would be nice to see the power come back.
But if he turns into this kind of guy the rest of his career; walking 10% of the time and getting on base at around a .360 clip, between usually .300BA and his 50 steals a year, he’s going to get to the hall.
"Where we all wait in earnest with pudding in hand for the Upton comet to sail through the roofed skies, so that we may meet Him."
Hopefully this continues, but not holding my breath.
In years past it seemed like Crawford would go through cycles and spikes like this. He’d start taking pitches, OBP would rise (but not necessarily avg or iso slg), then the quick at-bats would return and around we go.

Today, we are all Honkballers.
but very gradual improvement!

At this rate, by 2018 he could be league average!
Or maybe this is real similar to a Claudell Washington:

Today, we are all Honkballers.
