5/20 Post-Game: Oakland Athletics @ Tampa Bay Rays
I might be more shocked if Kazmir actually makes his next start.

How the heck can Kazmir make his next start?
It would be insane to continue down this track? Find an injury and DL him OR worse, demote him to the pen, turn Kaz into a long man and Cormier now has a spot in the rotation, if none of the young lions are ready in Durham
Put Tampa Bay back on our road uniforms!!
I think putting him in the pen is a bad idea.
It has to be DL or trade. If he goes to the pen then whatever is left of his trade value goes bye-bye.

Time for a visit to Dr. Andrews
If that comes back with no problems found, then it is time for a visit to a full body biometrics clinic and try to map where the loss of velocity went.
Very rarely does a guy lose this much velocity and there is not a physical ailment. 4 mph since 2004, and 2 mph from last year.
If they decide to pull Kaz
How would they adjust the roster because I don’t trust Cormier to be a starter even though he’s been money in the pen. This team needs major rotation help because Shields & Garza can’t hold this team up every start.
Does Kazmir have an option left?
It seems he should, and he doesn’t have 5 service years yet, so they may be able to option him. Sure RJ has the particulars.

Cots doesn't have his contract purchase date.

He didn't sign one when drafted.
So, assuming his contract was purchased upon promotion in 04, he has all three options remaining.

Does his extension change any of that?
Just wondering about that….It might be a necessity now. If not that, then ordering a physical and giving him a full comb over is something to take a look at.

In today's Tribune
<It’s not as simple as just sending him to Durham.
Kazmir has enough service time in the majors that he would have to approve being assigned to the minors, not that the Rays are actively considering such a move.
I wouldn’t be surprised, though, if we don’t learn – soon – that Kazmir is hurt. Even though he continues to insist he is healthy, a physical problem would explain a lot of things.
Considering that he answered “not really” when asked if he was still pitching with confidence, a minor physical problem would almost be good news. At least it is something that could be identified and fixed.
>
As I have been harping, we got an idiotic media not knowing what they are talking about. I think its clear he wouldn’t have to approve a demotion. Somebody send an SOS to the Tribune.

Wow
he said not really when asked if he was pitching with confidence. Thats who I want out there, they guy who expects to get shelled.
I'm beginning to think that I'd rather read fanposts on why the Rays should have traded Sonny vs. Edwin instead of continuing to hear as to why Kazmir is fucked up in the head.
"Where we all wait in earnest with pudding in hand for the Upton comet to sail through the roofed skies, so that we may meet Him."
You know why Edwin is better than Sonny? One word: Stuff. If Sonny had it he could be good.

Is he really over 5 years?
I swore he wouldn’t cross 5 years until ~August, maybe I’m wrong.

This is exasperating...
We got conflicting information about Kazmir’s options. Jim Lighthall of 1010 Sports said that he has 2 options remaining. With Peavy’s trade setting the bar today, it can be fair to gauge where Kazmir’s stock falls.
As far as the media in our market goes, that’s another story. We got some real pathetic scribes in this town with ulterior motives and differing agendas.
Put Tampa Bay back on our road uniforms!!
Entering this year:
4.042 service time. He needs 130 more for five seasons:
Any player who has been in the major leagues for five full seasons may not be assigned to a minor-league team without his written consent. This sometimes puts the team in a bad position, because a player with five years has every right to say, “I don’t want to go to New Orleans. You can either release me and keep paying me, or keep me on the major league roster and keep paying. Your choice.”
So, no, he doesn’t have enough time.

Not just that...
Can they find an injury? I am under the belief he can be sent down without being declared a FA. And if not, I take a long look at his medical records and force either a physical or an MRI. I would do that, I would take a look at his elbow and shoulder.
Put Tampa Bay back on our road uniforms!!
Yeah I hope they pull it out
I have the Magic +450 this game for 125bucks.
Nicely done

I also have the Magic to win the NBA title at 18-1
I made that bet this afternoon. For comparisons sake the Rays right now are 20-1 to win the World Series. That is just ridiculous value on the Magic.

SOmehow we cant win a series vs the worst team in the league
But of course considering Kaz was starting it is not surprising we lost. He couldn’t beat a A ball team right now.

I think Garza should refer Kaz to his psychologist.
Kaz looks like he has zero confidence out there.
