Connors Top -10
With the season a quarter way in the bag and TB at .500 20-20 thru the 1st qtr the question looms, what needs to be done to make the playoffs. Well, for one the Rays need to go 23-17 the next 3 qtr's to win 92 games which should win a seat in the playoffs. we've started the 2nd qtr at 0-2 so again, what needs to be done?
Here' s the Top -10 things to do starting today:
10 - Re-name Dale Mabry - Evan Longoria Hwy.
9- Place Kazmir on the 15 day DL with the option of extending his DL stint.
8- Sonny = BP he's been atrocious as a starter.
7- Give Percie a 1-way ticket back to Cali
6- Bring up Wade Davis
5- Bring up "King" David Price minus the knuckler/ curvature experiment.
4- Zo - Rilla gets the starting nod daily.
3- Gross & Kapler re-assigned.
2- Joyce & Jennings promoted. I gotta see Jennings man.
1- The number one thing to do is waive Dioner "the automatic out" Navarro. He's the worst catcher in MLB. He costs this team runs, wins, and excitement. He's a below avg. catcher that's slow, fat, can' t hit, and completely SUCKS! If I have to witness the round man the rest of the year I'll get an ulcer. Maddon needs to quit his patience B.S. and realize this guy is nothing less than horrible!
Go Rays!

problems with these
you get rid of the outfielders to promote Joyce and Jennings. this team was built on player development. to promote them to not have everyday playing time is pretty much a bad idea, just to see them.

He also refers to himself in the 3rd person.
Get a life.
DFAing Gross is a mistake. Navarro was an All-Star last year. Yes he is doing terrible at the moment, but he can recover. I don’t want Zobrist’s Glove in RF everyday. And lets wait till Evan is retired and in the HOF before we start naming State Roads after him. Mark McGwire Highway being a prime example. (Not relating Evan and Mark in any way though).

Where is he referring to himself in 3rd?
I see a bunch of I’s and We’s, don’t see 3rd person anywhere in this fanpost.
"Where we all wait in earnest with pudding in hand for the Upton comet to sail through the roofed skies, so that we may meet Him."
Is that you Pudge?

Gross has a decent OBP and is good defensively although I would agree a rightfielder with more power is needed. The number 1 move they need to make now is switch Aki and Upton in the batting order. The only Rays players with a worse OBP than Upton are Kapler and Navarro.
My few things
Drop Upton in the order. Maybe hit him 5th and Bartlett 1. Upton just doesn’t get on base enough. He is a K machine.
DFA Kapler. Zorilla makes him redundant
DL Kazmir. Unless he gets it back he needs to be done for the season
Bring up Price. Unfortunately this means we are stuck with Neimann in the rotation (and Sonny). Davis isn’t ready to start in MLB. If Kaz comes back strong (which is HIGHLY doubtful) trade Neimann at the end of the year and trade Kaz in the offseason (debatable)
Bring up Davis near the end of the year. Davis 2009 = Price 2008. Put him in the pen
Trade Wheeler.
I think we either need a big bench bat (ala Gomes) or a bench speedster. Although this is done the list of needs.
PtB needs to get healthy
The fact of the matter the problems with this team cannot be fixed via moves. A move isn’t going to upgrade a position. We have exactly four players that removing them would help our team. Wheeler, Percival, Kazmir, and Neimann. We have the trump card to fix one of the rotation spots with Price. The pen is the easiest to fix out of everything. You just have to be willing to eat the $$$. The rest of the players are playing fine overall. They either have clunkers at the wrong time or the dominate when we do not need them to. That needs to even out.

You know, I should have my own weekly column here.
This place needs some abstract thinking.
I like moving Beej down in the line up, however, I’m for Bartlett leading off not Aki.
I like promoting players to TB today. Kaplers definately outta here.
Suttree calling me a troll? Because I’m not a “yes” man and a rah-rah boy to join your 1 handed circles you all have defending every move friedman & Maddon make, you think I post to cause a reaction? Not a chance peanut. It’s called sometimes you make moves when players are not performing to let them know they’re MLB players and playing like crap is unacceptable.
Making fun of my last name? Sure hope RJ bans your asses from DRaysbay too. Completely uncalled for! (not really, but had to make a point. I could give a rats ass).
BTW, if anything I printed in the Top 10 wouldn’t help the team now, tell me which wouldn’t beyond naming the new hwy. There’s nothing printed above that wouldn’t help this current ballclub. Everyone deserves a shot when players are underperforming.
The time is NOW!

Yes men, rah rah boy?
C’mon, there is plenty of disagreement on this site. Its just better debate backed by statisitical evidence and more than a few weeks’ worth of data.
Why reassign Gross and Kapler? Thats just an emotional statement. Start Zo sure. But doesn’t it make more sense to have them on the bench than a prospect who needs to play everyday for developmental purposes?

I look at it this way:
I’m getting paid to post on Drays Bay.
Also, from a personality profile I just received from my company: “Peter has high ego strengths and may be viewed by some as egotistical.”
You don't have a job.
Your name is Peter.
