Rays Unable To Keep Marlins Scoreless In 11th

I'm actually happy this game is over.  The Rays lost, and that's a shame, but today just wasn't their day.  Tommy already covered Aki's injury so I won't get in to that.

The Marlins got four or five fluky hits that ended up costing the Rays runs, Aki may be out for a long while, Jason Bartlett turned an ankle* and we were even treated to the rare five man infield, which I don't think I've ever seen be successful.

*Update: Bartlett has a sprained ankle and will not play tomorrow, though he wouldn't have anyway(h/t Marc Lancaster).

After Jeremy Hermida reached base on a high chopper, the dangerous Hanley Ramirez was intentionally walked, loading the bases.  Brian Shouse was unable to get a ground ball from Ross Gload with one out and the bases loaded in the 11th inning and that was the ball game.

Jason Bartlett continued his amazing season by hitting a game tying home run in the 8th inning, Evan Longoria extended his Major League leading RBI total to 49 with a single in the 3rd inning, and Carl Crawford padded his stolen base lead with a steal in the 3rd inning and is now 27 of 27 on the season.

We need to all put today's loss behind us and shift our focus to tomorrow, for Monday is Price Day.  Hopefully we can have many Price Days as the season progresses.

Tough loss, but...

I’m just thankful that Bartlett doesn’t appear to be seriously hurt. Having a win instead of that wouldn’t be something I’d go for after Aki had already gone down.

At least we got 2 out of 3, and 3 other divisional teams lost today. Plus I counted at least three jacks to the deep outfield that may have been gone at a more hitter-friendly park. I don’t ever really want to see that huge leftfield wall again.

It isn't me

Is there a silent majority out there I don’t know of? Good use of the word perhaps. I have no control over what is happening here.

Put Tampa Bay back on our road uniforms!!
