Good..they should

This type of embarrassing crap should be played on loop in the clubhouse. Blowing a 10 run lead in any game, shitty umpire or not, is beyond inexcusable. The good news is those idiots can’t pitch tomorrow so it’s up to Garza and Howell to get it done. Good job by Cormier tonight..the rest of them should have to sleep on park benches in Cleveland

i cannot fucking believe we lost that god damn game,

how in the fuck do we allow them to score 7 in the bottom of the god damn 9th inning? i hate our bullpen, i really can’t portray how much we just cannot afford to lose games like this. that was pathetic, maddon please call out these pieces of shit that parade as our bullpen.

Brad Ziegler had a scoreless inning streak. Brad Ziegler had not met BJ Upton.

My cellphone already has 10 texts on it with “BWAHAHAHAHAHA” from various people. I just threw it somewhere in the house so I’ll find it tomorrow.

Of course, both ways suck, but

I kind of think it’s better to get punched in the balls suddenly(lose a game like this) than it is to have someone squeeze your balls all game and then give them one last hard squeeze at the end(losing a heart-wrenching close game).

I guess this karma telling us we’ve had it too nice

The only bright spot...

is that I’ve lately been feeling sorry for Eric Wedge and I like him as a manager. Glad he’s feeling good tonight.

Everything else is 100% shit-dome.

by Zach Attack on May 25, 2009 10:39 PM EDT reply actions

I hope Price is sitting there laughing at Maddon for taking him out so early. Fuck his pitch count.

by Matt0611 on May 25, 2009 10:39 PM EDT reply actions

Ummm

The rate he was going, he would be lucky to make it through 4 full innings.

Seriously, Nolan Ryan

or Jack Mckeon don’t care. Even Greg Maddux doesn’t care. Read “Criticisms of Pitch Count”

Things other than the bullpen to become angry/express concern/use as excuse for murderous rampage:

Price only going 3.1 IP
Five innings of shutout ball from Sowers
“Odd” strikezone
Untimely Brignac error

But wow, four pitchers and five walks in the 9th. WTF.

What an strange season so far.

Today, we are all Honkballers.

by RATW on May 25, 2009 10:41 PM EDT reply actions

When Sowers was in the game, the offense was on auto-pilot

Hard to blame them. They’d have to think that professional pitchers can hold a 10 run lead.

by PlayOnWords on May 25, 2009 10:44 PM EDT up reply actions

Izzy's problem may have been

did he even have enough time to warm up, be wasn’t up in the 8th and when you hit the panic button who knows

by Transplanted on May 25, 2009 10:48 PM EDT up reply actions

Check the link embedded in the OP

He had five pitches called balls that were clearly within the established strike zone. FIVE. That’s huge in this situation. He was actually decent, I thought.

by PlayOnWords on May 25, 2009 10:51 PM EDT up reply actions

I don't care who the ump is

We should be able to hold a 10-0 lead

2009 Rays Baseball: God Damn It, Guys

by JMB on May 25, 2009 10:46 PM EDT up reply actions

More likely a 10-2 lead

but still the same effect

We need Robots....The time is now Bud.

by 4QB on May 25, 2009 10:48 PM EDT up reply actions

Exactly

Did the ump suck? Yes.
Still, IT WAS 10 TO FUCKING 2. WHAT THE FUCK?!?!

2009 Rays Baseball: God Damn It, Guys

by JMB on May 25, 2009 10:49 PM EDT up reply actions

Possible Reasons:

1) Stache was too tired after going three innings.
2) Choate was too tired from jet lag or whatever
3) Balfour just plain sucked, no explanation (maybe needs to visit shrink)
4) Izzy is Old, ok yeah that explains it

We need Robots....The time is now Bud.

by 4QB on May 25, 2009 10:51 PM EDT up reply actions

Anyone who basically blows Price or blames the pen or Brignac's error

is flat retarded

Worst ump I ever saw in my life, 19 combined walks does not happen

Rotation: 1. James Shields 2. Matt Garza 3. David Price 4. Andy Sonnanstine 5. Jeff Niemann...... Coming Soon: Wade Davis

by joeybw on May 25, 2009 10:44 PM EDT reply actions

Are you serious?

I don’t want to ever see Izzy in a Rays uni again. The guy is a piece of crap. Why do these guys who don’t have it anymore continue to play. The guys sucks and I guarantee this is not the last game he costs us.

by Sveet on May 26, 2009 8:37 AM EDT up reply actions

Yeah, a guy who was able to throw 93 in the accepted strike zone should be run out of town

It isn’t his fault he was forced to throw gophers in order to generate a strike. It wasn’t Choate’s fault Briggy threw away a DP ball. I’m not an Izzy guy, but this wasn’t the performance to pin a condemnation on.

by PlayOnWords on May 26, 2009 10:25 AM EDT up reply actions

He didn't throw any gopher balls

If he did we would have won. No he walked 3 guys and then gave up a single. Its always good to walk Jamey Carroll to get to Grady Sizemore and even better to walk Grady Sizemore to get to Victor Martinez.

But your right lets just pick every player up who can throw that 93mph “heat” because obviously that means they are good enough to play in the bigs for a contending team.

You will see the error of your ways soon enough. This guy is not a big league pitcher.

Cut Izzy!

by Sveet on May 26, 2009 10:34 AM EDT up reply actions

That's a fangraph curve

You may never quite see again. What a change. If it was so funny, I would be rolling around right now, but I am not.
