So the AL East is kind of good
I was looking through the Fangraphs rankings today, and noticed how the same teams kept popping up at the top of important lists. So I thought that I would list the rankings for each offensive category that FG tracks to get an idea of how good this division has been. In the following document you can see where each team ranks. One caveat is that I did not want to inject my own personal ideas on positive and negative stats, so everything is listed as is. I.E. Having a low number for strikeouts is not good, having a high number for the HR category is equally not good. You can either DL the file ALE Rankings
or check it out on Google Docs. I think it is important to appreciate how good we have been offensively this year as it's been kind of sneaky, but we can hit.

Well they have Pud, Youk, and Lester pretty much longterm with some quality arms after that
and a couple of high-ceiling bats, but it doesn’t seem like they have a ton of depth, and if they let Bay go that lineup will be significantly less good. Of course having twice the budget we have can fill a lot of holes as well as top notch foreign talent evaluation.

What high-ceiling talent?
Their minor league system is vastly overrated.

That's what he said, a couple of high-ceiling bats but not a lot of depth.

Which high-ceiling bats?
Lars Anderson is a stiff.

Him, Chris Carter, Josh Reddick
The advantage to being vastly overrated is that they can trade these jokers for immediate returns. Which they will probably do, and then it doesn’t matter how the player was rated.

"Don't test the cannon"! screamed Matt Garza after b.J. Upton throws another failed attempt of scoring by a tag-up!

Well they traded over-rated prospects plus THE GREATEST HITTER OF THE 2000'S
I wish Manny would push me down a flight of stairs.

Pedroia does not impress me
Yes, he has a good OBP and is a good fielding 2B, but his power #s are down from last year and every HR I’ve ever seen the guy hit has just barely gotten out. He’s also douche.
Maybe I’m just an old fashioned BJ suck-off-er. (Good call Sandy)

I was looking more at who they have locked up contractually than skill
He is still nice table setter, even if he is just Jeter at 2B.
