Jason Isringhausen To Have Tommy John Surgery; Season (career?) over
Jason Isringhausen knew something was wrong immediately after he threw what might be his last pitch. Results of an MRI confirmed the worst today as his right elbow "strain" became a torn UCL. He will undergo Tommy John surgery. It is not known when he will have the surgery, but his 2009 season is over. If he attempts another comeback, 2010 would also be questionable.
If it is the end of the road for Jason Isringhausen he will finish as a two time all-star. After starting his career as a starting pitcher for the Mets, The former member of "Generation K", found a niche as a closer for the Oakland A's. However, he really made a name for himself as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals. His best stretch came in a Cards uniform from 2002-2005. Over the four year period he averaged an ERA/FIP of 2.65/2.46 and 35 saves. He currently owns a career record of 45-50 with a ERA/FIP of 3.60/3.88 and 293 saves.
Best of luck Izzy.

So this means Percival is going to come back after all, doesn't it.
"Where we all wait in earnest with pudding in hand for the Upton comet to sail through the roofed skies, so that we may meet Him."
Percival on 'Pros vs. Joes' might make that show watchable.

I was thinking more of a keg-stand competition.

Would he be one of the 'joes?'
I could be wrong though

I don't know too much about it
But I believe that to do anything stress-related with his elbow, he’d need that repaired; so he’d probably get it regardless.

you know, he might be pretty good in 2011 if he works out and gets in shape...especially after resting that arm for 2 years
There's video of the pitch if anyone didn't see it....
watch his arm when they show the slowmo….ouch
I didnt want him signed
I didnt want him promoted
I cringed every time he was warming up, I barfed every time he came in
I feel so bad for him, I hope he does come back for some team and pick up at least 7 saves
Rotation: 1. James Shields 2. Matt Garza 3. David Price 4. Jeff Niemann 5. Andy Sonnanstine...... Coming Soon: Wade Davis......Scott Kazmir?
Poor guy
Horwits said Isringhausen has "loved"" his time with the Rays and it “felt like home,” so when and if the two-time All Star is ready to pitch again, “Andrew (Friedman) will be the first person I call.”

Would you keep him around for the rest of the year?
Shit I mean I saw Percy in the dugout one game after he got DL’d
Rays Win!

Percival's situation is different. Percival got butthurt because the fans kept booing him.
"Where we all wait in earnest with pudding in hand for the Upton comet to sail through the roofed skies, so that we may meet Him."
Is a tear of the UCL a sudden thing or do you think his elbow hurting for a while and it finally gave out?
He didn't appear to be pitching progressively worse in each appearance.

Could go either way
Sometimes they do just blow-out.
Maybe I’m just an old fashioned BJ suck-off-er. (Good call Sandy)

Please no Percival
Abreu
Thayer
Nelson
Howell
Balfour
Cormier
Bradford
Please :)
I guess I can be persuaded on Choate….
If we're going to have a LOOGY, Choate's perfect. Frankly, though, I'd rather not have a loogy.
With the pen you’ve listed, it’s a complete waste. Both Nellie and Howell can get lefties out.
Choate has been a stud who is decent against righties even so far
I’ll take him over Thayer. And I know we all want it but will we fake a injury to Wheeler?
Rotation: 1. James Shields 2. Matt Garza 3. David Price 4. Jeff Niemann 5. Andy Sonnanstine...... Coming Soon: Wade Davis......Scott Kazmir?
YOU SHUT YOUR MOUTH.
DALE THAYER WILL ROB YOU OF YOUR MOUTH VIRGINITY IF YOU DARE SPEAK ILL OF HIM AGAIN.
