Pedro Martinez to the Rays Seems Unlikely Based on Asking Price
It appears we can place the Pedro Martinez speculation on the back shelf. Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports Martinez' price tag is out of the Rays range. Sherman also confirms what many of us suspected by noting the Rays interest in Martinez was in relief, not as a starter. No big loss here. A ~3.6 FIP reliever would improve the pen, but paying a "significant price" for one seems silly. Nearly 70 relievers with 20+ innings this season have FIP around that level.
Plus, if this means I never have to see a user with the name "Pedrophile", well, I think it's a worthwhile concession to make.

David Price needs to remember he's a rookie. He doesn't get say on who we sign.
