Great match up for AAA
I hope Kaz can get himself together. How I yearn for Kaz of ‘07 again. C’mon baseball gods, hear my prayers.
Fun facts about this series
Scott Kazmir is a headcase.
Scott Kazmir has broken mechanics.
Scott Kazmir isn’t going to pitch well because the crowd isn’t big enough.
Scott Kazmir had some kind of breakthrough before this game.
Scott Kazmir thinks Jim Hickey is stupid
I can’t wait until we trade him for a reliever.
"Where we all wait in earnest with pudding in hand for the Upton comet to sail through the roofed skies, so that we may meet Him."
Brian Baker sent from Montgomery to Hudson Valley due to Hellickson's return
Odd move, no?

Yeah, I'm thinking(hoping) it's temporary
He’s not really a prospect, but he was pitching well at AA, doesn’t make sense to send him down to pitch in a short-season league.

He was pitching really nicely
I understand hes not a true prospect, but he seemed to be developing. I’m working on a fun piece looking at the prospects from BA’s top 31 Ray Prospects of 08 who fell out of the 09 ranks.

He was an undrafted college guy too
He’s certainly far exceeded anyone’s expectations for him.

So I’m using my roommates mac, and it won’t play. Is there something I could do to get it play?

Struggling with his control a bit
His stuff is good but to me it doesn’t look like he knows how to pitch. He kept pounding Rhyne Hughes with changeups, would up walking him, and the next batter drove in a run.

It's also possible he's under orders to throw the change-up a ton.

Whichever comes first. Montgomery game starting soon.

His stats last year in Princeton were poor
But he did strike out a lot of guys and the scouting reports on him are good. Live fastball(92-94), breaking stuff still needs work.

Hellickson showing some rust
Two singles to lead off, then a flyout and a strikeout. Can still get out of the inning with no damage.
www.raysprospects.com
And he gets the strikeout
Two swinging strikeouts in the 1st inning, nice to see. Two hits, but like I said, he’s probably rusty.

I have to admit
I’m a little excited. Kaz’s velocity looks like it’s starting to come back. He was mainly 92-93 that entire inning.
Hello.
I loved seeing him throw changeup
At 79 with some depth, that can really be a weapon against righties.

Kaz had a 4.5 IFFB% this year.
That’s well beneath his career average of 11.2%. He got 2 nice popups that inning.

Desmond Jennings is having a rough June
.638 OPS, but the walks are still there(9 in 72 ABs)
www.raysprospects.com
Princeton season begins tomorrow
So I’ll remind everyone that there’s still room on the Jason McEachern bandwagon.
www.raysprospects.com
14th rounder last year
Didn’t really come onto radars until his senior year, his stuff jumped and he lead the state of NC in strikeouts. He’s 6’2" and like 160, so there’s room for his fastball to grow(sat around 90 last year). His rate stats weren’t great(16 K/8 BB in 25 innings) but he posted a 1.44 ERA in Princeton as a 17-year old last year.

Skimming through the thread
See a nice FB and sexy change :)
How is the slider?
Rotation: 1. James Shields 2. Matt Garza 3. David Price 4. Jeff Niemann 5. Andy Sonnanstine...... Coming Soon: Wade Davis......Scott Kazmir?
I mentioned this to RJ yesterday
John Jaso slash line by month:
April: .291/.361/.491
May: .137/.274/.157
June entering today: .275/.397/.471
That May is going to kill his season line.
www.raysprospects.com
Maybe he and Navi had a bet to see who could produce the more mortifying slash.

I am really wondering if it will be any worse than Navi's anyway
Rotation: 1. James Shields 2. Matt Garza 3. David Price 4. Jeff Niemann 5. Andy Sonnanstine...... Coming Soon: Wade Davis......Scott Kazmir?
Wfrom what I remember
that was the knock on him anyways

So whats the plan when he comes back?
Niemann to pen?
Sonny to pen/AAA?
I feel like we should platoon Sonny and Niemann, Sonny never on the road, heh
Rotation: 1. James Shields 2. Matt Garza 3. David Price 4. Jeff Niemann 5. Andy Sonnanstine...... Coming Soon: Wade Davis......Scott Kazmir?
This
Davis should be “ready” sometime in July anyway, assuming we don’t want to keep him down until Sept.

3 guys we had in the majors at some point already (Kazmir, Brignac, Joyce)
2 we will prob see in Sept (Jaso and Ruggiano) and then Weber and Hughes as possible September call ups
Durham is AAA.5
Rotation: 1. James Shields 2. Matt Garza 3. David Price 4. Jeff Niemann 5. Andy Sonnanstine...... Coming Soon: Wade Davis......Scott Kazmir?
Could see Fernando Perez instead of Ruggiano
If he’s healthy by then.

This.
And he didn’t even work deep counts. Sometimes he’d have 1 or 2 walk games but be walking the tightrope with tons of 3-2 counts. Not tonight.

He's getting a ton of flyball outs and has a nasty split vs. lefties.
I’d like to see him bumped up to AAA at some point, but my expectations aren’t very high at this point.

he has a 1:2 BB:K ratio
.250 OPP AVG, ERA at 3.06 4 for 4 on saves
might take a bit tho, seems he has been meh lately
