I somehow doubt it
But velocity is often the last thing to come back.

I'm hoping for the same thing, but will they rush him? Is that even rushing him?
Either way, that’d be hot as shit. Price 2.0
considering he has never seen AAA, I would definately classify that as rushing.
he may get a September call-up but I would put more money on our FO not wanting to put anymore innings on his arm than necessary this year.
Agreed
The last thing we need McGee to do is overcompensate because he’s trying to impress in the majors, and injure himself again.
Also, don’t forget this is the GCL. Most of these kids are late round high schoolers and latin players who have never been to the US before.

just double-checked, and he's already pitched 100 IP in AA over 2 seasons
so I go back to my original statement, and for a reliever, AAA for him wouldn’t be rushing imo.
He's going to pitch another GCL start
then 3 bullpen sessions(unsure if those are side sessions or in-game relief appearances) and then move on to Charlotte.

I have always kind of looked at myself as a young Emilio Estevez
Dude directed Bobby!!!!!!!! Plus Men at Work and Repo Man are some of the more underrated movies of the 90’s.

But wait, there's more!
Wade Townsend(who is totally, unequivocally NOT retired) makes a GCL start on July 21.

Last I heard he was a Barista in SD
Not sure how he handled the massive Starbucks layoffs last year, he had a lot of potential so they may have kept him on

Gotta love those 4 inning saves too
Maybe I’m just an old fashioned BJ suck-off-er. (Good call Sandy)

Awesome blossum
I think Davis is the 09 Price but Hellickson and McGee can BOTH be the 2010 Price
Rotation: 1. James Shields 2. Matt Garza 3. David Price 4. Scott Kazmir 5. Jeff Niemann
Predict the 2012 rotation?
Price
Hellickson
Moore
Garza
Davis ?
We all know how slow the Rays take it
Moore will be in AAA prob in 2012 with Barnese
2012
Price
Shields
Garza
Davis
Hellickson
Rotation: 1. James Shields 2. Matt Garza 3. David Price 4. Scott Kazmir 5. Jeff Niemann
dont forget about Barnese
Vikings lets sign Brett Favre and Marvin Harrison. Ricky Rubio please dont go back to Spain!
What is so intriquing about McGee to me
is looking at Josh Johnson
He sat at 95 as a starter, the pen will add spped, TJ surgery may also
Lefty closer throwing 100 mph? Man I hope he gets the sexy curve back and finds command.
Rotation: 1. James Shields 2. Matt Garza 3. David Price 4. Scott Kazmir 5. Jeff Niemann
His curve was never really any better than average

He could never consistently throw it.
It had good tight break and rotation, but he never could command it with any regularity.
Tools Whore
Yeah
I’m sure he got strikeouts on it out of the zone because hitters had to start their bats early for the fastball. He’s going to have to be able to at least throw it for a show-me strike so higher-level hitters have to at least respect it.

Well he had two breaking pitches.
One was that get me over pitch, but it looks completely different. It’s slower and doesn’t have the tight rotation that the other pitch has. He’ll have to command that strike-out pitch somewhat to be a shut down pitcher, even out of the pen.
Tools Whore
I think it was
The break on it is knee buckling, he just didn’t have a ton of command of it.

I don't know if it was knee buckling.
I’ve only seen him pitch twice though. Once was in the FSL and I don’t think he threw one curve for a strike. The rotation was tight and the break was really sharp, but he bounced it just about every time.
The second time was the same year was on the internet in the Southern League playoffs and he didn’t throw that curve as often, but had much better command of the pitch and even struck 3 or 4 guys out on it.

Why doesn't Jason Bartlett show up in batting stats on ESPN
Ben Zobrist does show up with 209 ABs, but Jason does not with 212. Is there another criteria?
It's not at bats, it's plate appearances.
And I think you’re in the wrong thread.

I saw McGee pitch against Dunedin a couple of years ago.
I cannot remember the details except that he was very erratic in about 4 innings of work. And in one inning, he was brilliant using only a curve ball and making the Dunedin batters look helpless. I doubt he threw more than a couple of fastballs that inning and yet they could not get close to hitting anything. They were swinging at air. In a couple of other innings, he was clobbered.
