Calvin Medlock Promoted to Durham

Southern League Save leader, Calvin Medlock, has been promoted from the Montgomery Biscuits to the Durham Bulls. Paul Phillips has been sent up from Port Charlotte. Per Stacy Long. Now that Medlock has been called up, this makes the fourth Biscuit to be promoted recently, who do you see getting the call next? With the All-Star Games approaching, I look for names like Jennings, Hellickson & Hughes to get called up next after the summer classic. Jennings, simply because there's no rush and it'd be nice for him to keep tearing up the competition and see if he can keep it up since he's been sloping downwards recently. Hellickson will get it after he makes a few more starts after his minor injury, and Hughes should to help out the offense Durham's lacking.

The fact that Durham is 34-19 with the offense they have had is impressive

If they can get contributions from some future call-ups (Jennings, Hughes) and some better production from guys they expect to be better (Ruggiano, Jaso, Richard) they should be on their way to another playoff run.

I agree

Ruggiano has somewhat struggled and Jaso hasn’t had the season he hoped for, yet the pitching has been key for this team. Richard is showing signs of his power he displayed last year and if Nowak, Eldridge and Sadler can produce they will have another run. Not to mention, the early play of Chaves has been a pleasant surprise. If when Jennings and Hughes get called up, it will add speed/power to that team.

Chaves has been a pleasant suprise including tonight in his first 40 AB's he has reached base 22 times.

including 8 BB to just 3 K.

Ruggiano has been the biggest dissapointment but he could be explained by the “boredom” theory. Jaso I thought would be better but he has been working a lot on his defense and that could be taking away from his offense.
