They spend 2 billion dollars on a new stadium and don't put a retractable roof on it.............

thats just stupid. Chase field is really nice and it has one so why not

Rays baseball + Colorado Football= amazing

It costs money

The stadium still went over budget without too many bells and whistles. And frankly, the Yankee faithful would whine and bitch about indoor baseball if they ever retracted the roof anyway.

Owners don't make as much money on double headers

Because they have to pay overtime to staff.

So they try to avoid them at all costs.

Here
The teams have a common off-day on Sept. 10 after a three-game series in New York, but there was talk of a day-night Labor Day doubleheader on Sept. 7 instead.

Oh that would be awesome.

I might finally make the trip up to visit a buddy in NY that I’ve talked about.

Am I the only person happy the game got rained out?

Longoria wouldn’t have been in tonight’s game against Sabathia. We need his right-handed bat in the line-up against this lefty. Assuming Longoria is in tomorrow’s line-up against Sabathia, then I am happy tonight’s game was rained out. The Rays will field a much better team tomorrow. Again, this is assuming Longoria plays tomorrow.

Barnese hit three guys in the 1st inning

All on curveballs. Little bit of rust. Picked one off and struck a guy out, only 1 run scored.

Barnese hits 3 batters in his first inning back. Rusty much?

You guys want every stadium in the world to have a retractable roof

I mean down here it’s one thing, or in a place like Phoenix, but I think kneejerk only begins to describe calling for one at New Yankee Stadium just because our one game got rained out. It’s not like they have a huge problem with this up there routinely. It rained. They’ll make it up. It’s really not a big deal.

I don't think that's the case.

We just got sick and tired last year of people trying to bait us with the old ‘indoor baseball = not real baseball’ crap. So every chance we get, we remind people that the game they missed out on would have gone on, if only they played in a stadium with a roof on it.

But his final line looks good.

Aside from the 3 hit batters and a wild pitch, he went 5 innings allowing 4 hits, 1 run, 0BBs and 7Ks. He also had 5 ground outs and 2 fly outs.

Good to see.

Guess he was a little amped up in the first.

It’d be great if he really gets it going.

T-Becks w/ a 2B and another error. LOL
