Aki back this year?
Noticed an article on the sideboard that said "Injured Rays 2B Akinori Iwamura, who's expected to be sidelined at least until late August or early September, played catch in the outfield before the game. He may accompany the team on a road trip following the All-Star break to continue working with the training staff. He is hoping to return at some point this season."
I know the injury wasn't as bad as originally thought, but is there a reason for him to come back? Seems he might want to look ahead to next year.
What are the odds that A) he comes back this season and B) we have a regular place for him?

doubt it
unless we’d get = or better production from Aki at 2B and Zo in RF and cut out the Gabes.
So long, Sweet Lime!
I'd at least like to see him back in the minors this year to see how he's recovered.
It will give us insight on what we should do with him. If he’s back to what he was before, it would make trading CC a very real possibility. We could insert Zob in LF and have Aki/Aybar at 2B with Brignac in the wings. This offseason is going to be very, very interesting.
The Rays will probably bring him back in favor of Dillon.
He won’t be happy coming off the bench, but he’ll be able to showcase that he’s healthy when the Rays prepare to move him on during the offseason.
I can't wait until we trade him for a reliever.
We would have to pick up his option before thinking of trading him.

Speaking of injuries
Guys on the DL for…..ever seem to finally be working back
from the heater
The Rays open a three-game series with the A’s tonight, but Tropicana Field is already filled with activity.
There’s LHP Brian Shouse, on the DL with a left elbow strain, starting his simulated game; and he will throw to two other rehabbing Rays, as backup C Shawn Riggans and OF Fernando Perez will hit against the lefty specialist.
Now I prefer Choate to Shouse but Riggans hits better than Michel and Nando is a PR, which we don’t have because we kept Dillon over Brignac.
Congrats to Longoria, Bartlett, Zobrist, and Crawford. Vote for Pena!
I am excited to see Nando swinging the bat!
Maybe I’m just an old fashioned BJ suck-off-er. (Good call Sandy)
