Carlos Pena Is An All-Star, John Jaso Called Up
Per Marc Lancaster, Carlos Pena is replacing Dustin Pedroia on the AL All Star team. Congrats Carlos, you deserve it. Pena will also participate in the Home Run Derby.
Also, Grant Balfour has been placed on the bereavement list. John Jaso will replace him on the roster today. Balfour is expected back by Friday.

I know Balfour hasn't been pitching great, but how about show some concern on him rather than "John Jaso".

He must be flying to Australia if he'll be back by Friday.

I think RJ was pissed that I had pointed out he was an insensitive stat-head.
He dealt with his feelings by mocking me in a blistering attack.

I like how Ian Kinsler gets screwed over, again.
Poor guy.
by R.J. Anderson on Jul 12, 2009 11:28 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
That's what the Rangers get for not making the world series last year.
Yeah, he got screwed. But Pena did 2 years ago, so it’s all good.
I can't wait until we trade him for a reliever.

Don't get me wrong...
Kinsler is a fine player but his OBP is at .332. He hits for power and his ISOd is respectable but he’s not a world beater like he was earlier in the year. That OBP is ugly. Ugly enough for me to say that Kinsler shouldn’t be a slam dunk even though he plays a premium position.
But Pedroia isn’t having a good year either so it’s all stupid anyways.

but it was a 2b that got injured. i mean do we really need five 1b?

I was commenting more
On the sentiment that Kinsler was snubbed in the first place. He, Cano and Hill are having nearly identical seasons, really.

I hope not
that way Maddon can take out all the infield starters except for Longo after 2 innings and we can see an all Rays infield in the 3rd

I bet he gets Carlos in with 1 out in the 1st. Then let's them play a solid 7-8 innings.
Or, that’s what I’d do at least.
