Last night they mentioned during the HR derby that the last ASG game
played in STL the time of game was 1:58
What the hell has happened?
Seriously.
Without advertisements, bullshit stats and gizmos, and the ramblings of Joe Morgan, there may be a baseball game worth watching under 3.5 hours here. Instead we get a football-game-esque overload of commercials and over-simplified analysis.
The All-Star Game is to Baseball as FOX News is to News. Cheap, quick, and all about the ego/money.
Sign lady must die.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Antoine Walker on criminal charges stemming from over $800,000 in gambling debts.
Walker is accused of writing bad checks totaling $1,000,000 to Caesar’s Palace, Planet Hollywood and the Red Rock Resort in Vegas. He sat on the Grizzlies’ bench last season before being waived, and might sit in a jail cell for this one.

speaking of a reliever, nuggett from cbs fantasy on tweeter
Choate not getting anyone out: Tampa Bay RP Randy Choate hasn’t gotten anyone out in a while. Choate pitched in Sunday’s loss to Oakland and allowed a hit to the only batter he faced. He gave up a homer to the only batter he faced against the A’s on Saturday, too. In his prior outing, on July 9, he gave up another hit to his only batter. His ERA is 1.84 on the year.
Choate doesn’t have even have 1/3 of an inning pitched in his last three outings combined and has given up a run on three hits. He’s been called upon to get one out and has failed to do that in three straight outings. That will not build confidence, no matter how low your ERA remains. Choate has four saves on the year but isn’t seeing opportunities any longer so he’s only a middle relief option for leagues that use them, at best.
People actually thought he was our closer?

by ValricoBrian on Jul 14, 2009 10:45 PM EDT up reply actions
Other than stealing speed is overrated
Disregarding steals a very slow player and a very fast player won’t have that wide of a discrepancy in bases. Some triples would only be doubles, but nearly all doubles would still be doubles. Yeah some more singles and probably more scoring on singles and sac flies. The difference isn’t huge
Essentially if you don’t steal then speed doesn’t truly matter

Smoak and Feliz
Then perhaps they can toss in a guy like Perez. Or a guy like Boscan or Font.

Boom. Outta Here.
