God hates the Royals
Almost as much as he hates the Nationals

Bryce Harper and Stephen Strasburg say God loves the Nationals.
Alex Gordon is proof he hates the Royals though.
Tools Whore
Only if Strasburg signs

Can they draft him again next year?
It would be pretty comical. If they picked him with the #1 pick and Harper with the 1A, they could still not sign him and get the 1A pick the following year.
4.5 out of first, 3.5 out of WC

So during the ASB
There was alot of talk about what if the Rays fall out of the playoff race who might we trade away to get value for the future. If we continue to gain ground who might the Rays legitimately try to pick up if anyone?
Only spot is catcher
Zaun for sure. I’d go after Vmart also
Brian Schneider for a cheap arm(ie Andujar or Hayes)?

I also wouldn't mind them being "sellers" in some sense
We need to trim our excess down at some point. We’d be better off trading players now than later.
Would the O's be willing to trade in division?
And what would the Indians be looking for in return for Martinez?
It's not like Zaun will cost much
maybe two C prospects gets the job done

Is there any precedent for that in recent history?
A team in the race trades away key parts (that while possibly substitueable in the short term) for future value?
For this I mean trading Niemann to get a good hitting prospect
“perception” wise it may be bad, but who cares. we need to trim our pitching staff and Sonny won’t be a downgrade at all. We can also buy Zaun in a separate deal (or like I said Vmart)
I c
What about giving up Aybar? I believe perception on him is very high and a “look to the future team” might give up some good things for someonw who could legitamately start for most ballclubs.
I wouldn't do taht
Aybar is pretty important and would be our primary replacement if we get any injury pretty much anywhere. Plus our farm is stocked with pitching and not hitting. I’d rather trade that pitching to have a balanced system
No V-Mart
Not saying he’s bad, but from reports the tribe is asking two much. Would prolly cost one of DJ/Briggy and Davis/Hellboy/Niemann.
Might as well trade CC for Bumgarner AND Thomas Neal is that’s the case.

Guess SEA doesn’t believe they’re in it
Wasn't he in Arizona

Circle this one on the calendar
Yankees @ Rays, July 27, 28, 29. This could be the make-or-break series of the season.
That isn't in September.

Just because it's so close to the deadline.
If they come out of that series still in range, then they’ll either stand pat or add somebody. If they’re like 6, 7 GB after next Wednesday they might end up being sellers.
I'm not sure why people think there will be some mass sell off
Even if we are out of it it would have to take an extraordinary deal to get anyone that is in the nucleus. I could see Bradford and Wheelz going somewhere and if so great.

The results aren't going to matter much either way.
The only spots the Rays could add to is basically catcher and maybe minor league relief depth. The only players they can move are some of the relievers and maybe a big budgeted salary if they get a fantastic deal.

Nah
We don’t sweep ‘em, but take the series. But the Yankees won’t lose until we sweep their asses in a couple of weeks.
I just noticed that Joe Dillon is older than Pat Burrell

SWEET SWEEP
The KC just gives a sweet gift at beginning of 2nd half. sweet sweep.
rotation looks just fine so far, batting looks like old time and very deep on bench.
the bullpen are perfect on this series.
But I wondering why Balfour alway use more than one inning?
Howell also play consecutive 3 games, 1 inning on each…..
But anyway, it smell good, we can, we can comeback, both game and season.
Bullpen was thin with Wheeler and Bradford unavailable
He does have the ability to go more than 1. I think yesterday the plan was to use him until they got to the lefty matchup.
