Why not trade Kazmir?
I dont know much about Kazmirs contract details but wouldn't this be a better option then trading our great AAA prospects? Im going to get destroyed for proposing this idea lol. Trade a proven MLB player who is underperforming and has trade value. Even if he gets back to top form I don't see him ever being as good as he was. Trade Brignac eventually, you kind of have to find the right deal for him based on his value. The same goes for all of our AAA prospects.
What are your thoughts DRaysBay staff? Also can you give me an update on Kazmir's contract details.

I think a lot of people wouldn't mind trading Kazmir
problem is right now his value is pretty low compared to where it could/should be based on how he has pitched this season and the recent injury issues. If AF gets a good offer or can use Kazmir in a trade instead of Davis, Moore, and maybe even Niemann, my guess is he would do it.
Here is Kazmir's contract status, from Cots
- 3 years/$28.5M (2009-11), plus 2012 club option
* signed extension with Tampa Bay 5/14/08
* 09:$6M, 10:$8M, 11:$12M, 12:$13.5M club option ($2.5M buyout)
* $0.8M bonus if traded (for first trade only)
* perks: use of luxury suite for 5 home games per season
* Kazmir to donate to club charity $75,000 each in 2009 and 2010, and $100,000 each in 2011 and 2012 (if option is exercised)
Yeah, the low value thing is a biggie. There's some talk they might find a way to move him to bring in Halladay or Cliff Lee, and in a situation like that, things get interesting.
If not, it’s my opinion that he’s coming around and is going to look damn nasty by the end of the year. Then you trade him in the offseason and get a better talent return for him straight up and let another team take their chances with him.
I can't wait until we trade him for a reliever.
Kaz
I agree that Kaz is inconsistent, but it’s not in his mechanics, it’s in his head. I say Kaz and either Brignac or Dillon or both for Halladay. Starting pitching is where it’s at right now, and Rays are not consistent. I’d even maybe think about moving Balfour as well. Either way, Kaz is gone after this season.
Wow, 0% chance Jays take that. And having Briggy interchangable with Dillon, if you don't know about prospects, don't pretend to.
Brad Ziegler had a scoreless inning streak. Brad Ziegler had not met BJ Upton.
Don't argue with this man, he has been watching baseball since before you were born.
Even if that is a horseshit, one-sided trade and wouldn’t get past the first guffaw.
I can't help that I make some things look easier than they really are.

Oh yeah,
The Rays pitching problem—as with any organization—is with the leadership; Fire Hickey Now.
I would offer the Indians Niemann/Davis and Brignac for Cliff Lee
For Halladay I would deal Niemann/Davis, Brignac, Barnese, and maybe Jaso.
Would that be enough to get either guy?
DJ has to be untouchable in any trade scenario unless there is a Crawford extension right around the corner.
Buy low, sell high
Trading Kazmir now would be violating that cardinal rule
