Either both are balls or both are strikes. The plate didn't change width, the batter didn't change height. Seriously, this ruins enjoyment a whole lot more than PED ever did.

Hoo Ray Consistency

First pitch is a strike, but not the most important one. Thanks!

Strike 2 on BJs 9th inning at-bat

was a fucking ball

what a disgrace to the game, screw steriods, horrible umping should be more of a concern

I don't understand all the bitching about Strike and Ball calls

Every other team has had to deal with it since the beginning of the game, and I just think adding robots will result in people saying “Oh shit that robot is fucking my team!” You still need an ump anyway to make calls at the plate. Sometimes umps suck but sometimes they’re great. You win some, you lose some. Everyone does. I just don’t see a robot strike caller coming anytime soon since honestly, the ump is a huge part of the tradition of the game and is fundamental to how it works. Too much resistance from too many people, and I’m not entirely convinced having a robot doing it is better anyway. Amorphous strike zones add to the flavor of the game.

Anybody from DRB want to fess up to adding this to Laz Diaz's Wikipedia Page?

On July , 2009 he made the worst call in the history of MLB by not calling a third strike on a 2 strike, 2 out count, costing the Tampa Bay Rays the game. Further investigation on whether Diaz is the worst ump in MLB are progress.

That's not even the worst call he's ever made against the Rays.

In 05, we were playing Boston, up 3-1 in the top of the 9th. CC was on 3rd. Lugo grounded to first, Olerud flipped the ball to Schilling, Lugo’s called safe. Tito and Schill argue, the umpires confer, Laz Diaz, the home plate umpire says he was out from 90 feet away and the call if overturned. Lugo was in fact safe. It didn’t effect the game, but the fact that he overruled it from 90 feet away is absolutely inexcusable.

hahah

that wiki thing made me laugh out loud, but ya it sucks the call went against us, but i tend to think that for every one that goes against us we get a call for us (except in last years world series) and certainly would not want the human element taken away from the game, i mean we would never see any managers kicking hats and players throwing water coolers, im not willing to give that up
