According to a source familiar with the Rays front office, team VP of baseball operations Andrew Friedman is "eager to do something," with Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee and Victor Martinez "players of interest" to Tampa Bay

Lots of threads for one discussion. I got a tab open for every page! :(

If I knew he were posting an article right after that tweet I wouldn't have posted the tweet.

Swav or Die (>'-')> <('-')> <('-'<)

I hope this doesn't turn into the same deal as last year
Even though the end result was incredible, I couldn’t help but be a little disappointed at the trade deadline.
I wasn't a big fan of making a major move
but now I’m starting to think that a little mix up could be beneficial to the club.
uh oh this could suck
According to Sean McAdam at the Boston Herald, the Red Sox have been “very aggressive” in their pursuit of Adrian Gonzalez from the Padres, but their offers have been “rebuffed.”
I am doubtful we get anything.
I suspect the Sox will get something.
I suspect we will all be angry.
Would Lee or Halladay be better
Pros for each are:
Lee-Can be the #1 starter, Probably easier to trade for, costs less & easier to retain if the FO wanted him remain
Halladay-Best Pitcher in baseball, already knows the division, would make the team extremely dominant in pitching, and the compensation picks are always there(since I doubt he’ll resign) and the window to win is still wide open for a few more years.
Lee
For all the reasons in my morning post. Halladay is the better pitcher, Lee is the better fit.

silly box score mishaps

it happens
any scorekeeping experts out there want to explain this one.
Top 6 Justin Ruggiano pops out sharply to SS Argenis Diaz (how does one pop out sharply)
Jake Mcgee pulled after 1 inning? Didn't he like 3 last time?
Brad Ziegler had a scoreless inning streak. Brad Ziegler had not met BJ Upton.
Alex Cobb did come in though (isn't he a normal starter)
so my guess is it was a planned short start.
Cobb 6 innings 1 run 4 h 0 bb 4 K
Yeah, but why would they decrease his workload?
Brad Ziegler had a scoreless inning streak. Brad Ziegler had not met BJ Upton.
Plus, the rumors his start had been scratched
Brad Ziegler had a scoreless inning streak. Brad Ziegler had not met BJ Upton.
I think that was Tommy, he read an incorrect box score.
as far as the decrease in workload, who knows maybe they are going to move him to the pen (although if that was the case I would imagine they would use him in a later inning situation so he could get used to having to warm-up during the game)
The box score apparently said Mejias started
But Nick realized the error and took down the post.

he has been putting up some decent performances lately (except the Tenn game)
and well tonight without seeing it I’m guessing he is throwing pretty well
once you get past 1-3 their line-up gets pretty sad
it could get really bad if Jennings and Nowak make it to AAA soon.
not sure if it is the deadline or trying to forget today's game but
I don’t normally find myself following both Montgomery and Durham so closely on game tracker with a thirst for baseball.
This is against the White Sox affiliate too
