DeRosa hasn't panned out very well for them
Even though the Rays are slumping, i still say if you can’t get Martinez get relief help
I like the move for the Cards.
Holliday showed some pretty comic defending here on the last homestand, though.
So long, Sweet Lime!
As a Cardinals fan I hate it.
It might grown on me, but right now I don’t like it at all.

Umm
Knobler says Tigers owner Mike Ilitch could always make a last-minute push for Holliday or Roy Halladay
Edwin would be happy if he had doc on his team
Come ON Pat the Bust, Navi can not have more homers than you
I think Doc has made it clear, he wants to play for a team that trains in Florida
and Lakeland is fairly close to his home
I wouldn't mind Doc going to the Tigers
That doesn’t really affect us that much as the Yankees or Angels would.
Still we'd face him three more times
tomorrow and once each in our series v Tigers
That would be one sick pitching staff

Brad Ziegler had a scoreless inning streak. Brad Ziegler had not met BJ Upton.
Cost em
an A- and two C+ prospects… for half a year, Cards seem to be in good position to offer arb as well for the two comp picks

What else is new?
Kaz is blaming the tightness for his poor performance…While I don’t discount it, when is this guy going to run out of excuses?
Sign lady must die.
Uhh
If anybody wants to trade for kazmir, you better have a solid pitcher in AAA, ready to take over if he goes on the DL?
Come ON Pat the Bust, Navi can not have more homers than you
I would say just be prepared to deal with his bitching.
After I signed the deal BTW.

Also, way to cite sources, Topkin.

Oh hey
we have competition:
Angels owner Arte Moreno said the club remains interested in acquiring an ace starter and has not heard anything that would preclude the pursuit of the likes of Toronto’s Roy Halladay and Cleveland’s Cliff Lee
I don’t know if you guys really trust this site.
Come ON Pat the Bust, Navi can not have more homers than you
To add
from a different site:
Scioscia didn’t name any players the Angels are after but the club has reportedly scouted Toronto’s Scott Downs and Brandon League, Baltimore’s George Sherrill and Arizona’s Chad Qualls.
Come ON Pat the Bust, Navi can not have more homers than you
The A's couldn't wait 3 more days till they were done with New York? There chances to win a game there now went from 2% to 0. :'(
Hm
• Texas, St. Louis (at least before the Matt Holliday deal), Tampa Bay, Milwaukee and — a team not mentioned so far — Cincinnati have also been involved. Word is the Rangers and Reds have attractive packages, but based on Halladay’s stance, those teams’ position in the standings could keep him from going there.
Brad Ziegler had a scoreless inning streak. Brad Ziegler had not met BJ Upton.

What are the odds of getting
1) Lee
2) Halladay
3) V-Mart
4) Lee and V-Mart
Are we front runners in any of it? Or staring at a 5% chance here and getting worked up over nothing

Didn't throw the 2-seamer, and when he did there was less distinction

So
Huston Street, Carlos Gonzalez and Greg Smith (Street is good, other 2 still havent showed anything) for Brett Wallace
Beane’d
1. James Shields 2. Scott Kazmir 3. Matt Garza 4. David Price 5. Jeff Niemann
Well this depends on what he could have gotten for those players last year
If it was greater than Wallace then he actually failed
Breaking News!!! The Rays trade Justin Ruggiano to the Jays
For the promose of not starting Halladay in this weekend series
Speaking of a real link
I got your email, but I’m just lazy once I’m off work. Essentially what I was talking about doing with your catcher article was what this link says near the bottom of the page.
http://www.kscience.co.uk/as/module5/ttest.htm
In reality there are a lot of variables you’d want to control, but as long as you match them up right it should give you a good ballpark. Like use all of Hernandez’s starts (or maybe even dip into Riggans starts also to give a bigger sample size) and then match up Navarros. Obviously keep the pitchers the same. So for example take a Garza start by Hernandez and match it up with a randomly selected Garza start by Navarro. Perhaps pick a start that is comparable by offense. Then you can see if there is a difference in the two sets of data and at what level.
We have more wins against Roy Halladay in the last two years than against any other pitcher FYI

Speaking of which...
we cannot trade Kaz to a team with good attendace
Trade him to the
NationLOLs, i hear they are making adam dunn available.
Come ON Pat the Bust, Navi can not have more homers than you
Any more interest in Pavano?
He’d be cheap now, after that debacle in Toronto
That could be the sneak move
Vmart + Pavano and we trade Kaz to the Angels…
I can hear Andrew now
“Okay Shapiro, Davis alone isn’t good enough for Lee. Fine, lets just talk VMart. How about we just do Davis and a couple C level prospects and you give us VMart. Hell how about you make a throw in too. What about Pavano?”
How about I shove my foot up your ass, you get Davis, and you give me Lee. Is that something you'd be interested in?

Give me Pavano
You and your hopeless team don’t need him!
Come ON Pat the Bust, Navi can not have more homers than you
I think i might too
that game was pretty a-typical
He’s been a GB pitcher for the most part
Pavano > Davis in the rotation this year
This year you put Davis in the pen if we don’t trade him. That is why I’m opposed to acquiring a bullpen arm. Davis can do it better than pretty much anyone we acquire (as can Sonny)
This is awesome.

Any rumors on the Yanks or Sox (Red) adding players?
I know the RedSox were looking at V-Mart, just wondering what the competition is doing.

Sox were looking at Adrian Gonzalez too, I guess.

sadly I can see this happening.
where the Sox wouldn’t give up Buchholz for Martinez, I would guess they would for Gonzalez, he would be a great fit for that park. It would be interesting to see what they tell Lowell considering he would no longer be a starter.
the Yankees have been suprisingly quiet, I wouldn't be suprised to see them get into the Halladay discussion at some point
although I read somewhere that the Brewers may end up offering both Escobar and Gamel and the Yankees can’t match that, not sure anyone can as far as positional guys.
If only we still had edwin jackson
we would be in the playoffs
Lincecum is the greatest ball player we will ever see play, besides barry bonds, don't even try and argue it.
Yeah we do need a power arm in the pen
