hehe, i don't think i've ever seen a graph where the winning team didn't have a 100% chance of winning at the end of it.
LL calls it a comeback!
Now get Cliff Lee for the sweep!

I mentioned it in the GDT but is there any realistic way we can call up an extra arm for tommorow
The pressure on Niemann to go very deep into the game is going to be huge and an extra arm could be a nice relief.
Thank God
Plus the A’s beat the Yanks, we’re now 5.5 games behind now biyach!
Let’s cheer on Baltimore while we’re at it.
I didn't say I wasn't flawless, but I damn sho' don't tarnish!
Maddon was a genius today
Moved Los down – Homer/3 run triple
Started Aybar – game tying homer
Removes Aybar or MVB – MVB gw hit
Not afraid to use his BP Ace in any situation.

Ok, just a few things
1) I don’t think the fact that Los was moved down had an effect on him hitting a home run
3) it makes sense because Aybar isn’t the defender Bartlett is, not becuase Bartlett would go on to get the game winning hit
4) It was either Howell who had been warming for a while or Nelson, it wasn’t really the most difficult choice. If he wasn’t scared to use him he would’ve kept him out for the bottom of the 12th, I don’t think he did anything that should absolutley floor anyone…
you really missed the sarcasm

These last two have been very prideful wins
God, that was amazing. I was literally nauseous for the bottom 12th.
So long, Sweet Lime!
me too
i was ready to vomit but he got the job done, it was hard to breathe until he got the 3rd out
1. James Shields 2. Scott Kazmir 3. Matt Garza 4. David Price 5. Jeff Niemann
i had to follow the Jays 12th on the internet
had it on tape
no, if we can substitute Barty for Brignac in any deal I'd do it in a heartbeat.
Brignac is already the better defender and the offense will even out over time. not to mention cheaper and we have him for more years.
there is absolutely NO guarantee
he’ll be an accomplished MLB player
Look what Price is doing
there is no gurrantee with anything
however there are good probabilities and the chances are Brignac is going to be a very good SS. At worst he is a gold glove Defensive SS with an average bat, most likely GG defender with a slightly above average bat.
anyone else care to chime in on this debate
of course it may be pointless if Seattle wouldn’t want Bartlett, but do you give up a little bit (I’d envision .5 game rest of this season) for long term gain (trading Barty and keeping briggy) or do you go with the best possible for this season by keeping Barty. I would personally rather keep Brignac, but I do have a huge man-crush and understand Raymondo’s arguement to keep Bartlett.
I don't think Bartlett will be as good as he was in the first half
Law of averages and whatnot, plus if Briggy plays better defense I would rather have him there, considering what his offense has been.
I could be wrong though

You don't trade him mid strea,
and Briggy is not setting the house on fire, and let’s not forget he’s in AAA
Seattle wouldn't want Bartlett over Brignac most likely.
1. Youth.
2. Cost control.
3. Left-handed.
Brignac could be a marvelous player for them for years.

left-handed?
Who?

We're talking about Bartlett and Brignac.
If Bartlett has ever swung a bat from the left side, this is a new development.

well I thought Briggy was right handed also
I didn’t know he was a lefty bat, righty throw

how is Brignac being left-handed help?
That puts him at a disadvantage for a shortstop. He has to turn his body to throw which takes precious split seconds (which do matter)

Uh, he bats left, throws right
So he will have batting handedness in his favor way more often than RH shortstops

Safeco Park saps right-handed power.
Not so much for left-handed power.
And you actually think a left-handed thrower would play shortstop? Um.
by R.J. Anderson on Jul 25, 2009 11:08 PM EDT up reply actions
alright just needed to clarify
no one is left-handed and plays the infield except the first baseman…
shoulda figured that

Price was pitching fine before today.
4.41 FIP over the last 30 days entering today, 3 walks last 70 batters, good strikeout rate. Yeah, he had some command issues today, whatever. People are so quick to dump on guys.

He should've been sent back down over Sonny, I maintain that.
I can't wait until we trade him for a reliever.
You might be right.
I’m just saying, he really hasn’t been that poor over his last four starts entering today.

I'm not gonna argue RJ--i guess i'm al little more results based than you
what’s going on with the “trade”?
M’s waiting for game to end maybe?
If he's as good as the scouts say he is, I'd take him over Barty.
Brad Ziegler had a scoreless inning streak. Brad Ziegler had not met BJ Upton.
I don't know what the stats are exactly
but from what I’ve seen range is about equal and Brignac has a stronger arm.
Bartlett is nearing -5 < x < 5 territory.
Brignac should be able to — at worst — match that.

Hey Yankees/Red Sox......

Oh I’m sorry, did I break your concentration?
I'll second that

Is there a good reason Darrin Downs is still in Port Charlotte?
He is having another great outing tonight
final line 7 innings 3 hits 1 bb 4 K 0 R
He is old for A+ so is he going to get moved up soon? He’s now 11-2 with an ERA just barely above 2.
Poor Carlos
A triple, a ninth inning homerun, 4 of the teams 10 RBI, and still a negative WPA.
