Tonight's game is pretty important
NYY are just rolling and BOS has lost again, Rays can’t afford another loss & another poor road trip because now the Rangers are ahead in the WC also. Ground & momentum need to be made up starting tonight. (I think the Giants stole our offense)
Time for Price to only need 297 more wins to go
i have no idea what to expect
I guess thats why the games are played
happy 4th
Rotation: 1. James Shields 2. Matt Garza 3. David Price 4. Scott Kazmir 5. Jeff Niemann
what is going on
I am afraid to do…..anything at this point
Rotation: 1. James Shields 2. Matt Garza 3. David Price 4. Scott Kazmir 5. Jeff Niemann
At least Barty is finally out of the 8 hole
BJ CF
CC LF
Longo 3B
Pena 1B
Zobrist 2B
Burrell DH
Bartlett SS
Kapler RF
Waste of space, a lot of space C

If you mean Sonny, that is actually sad but true
Rotation: 1. James Shields 2. Matt Garza 3. David Price 4. Scott Kazmir 5. Jeff Niemann
even when i play with navi on the show he is terrible
he throws the ball away at least 2 times every game.
i went a week with him
just like a real life, i knew he was an out right away, Russel Martin is now my awesome C
Rotation: 1. James Shields 2. Matt Garza 3. David Price 4. Scott Kazmir 5. Jeff Niemann
What should I watch? Sun Sports or MLB Network?
Rotation: 1. James Shields 2. Matt Garza 3. David Price 4. Scott Kazmir 5. Jeff Niemann
i'd watch MLB network in hopes that ratings would increase and get more national exposure...even though one person won't make a difference
I think I am gonna take a day off from blue balling Statts and idiot Kennedy and watch MLB Network
Rotation: 1. James Shields 2. Matt Garza 3. David Price 4. Scott Kazmir 5. Jeff Niemann
not sure even
Hopefully Magrane is one of them
Rotation: 1. James Shields 2. Matt Garza 3. David Price 4. Scott Kazmir 5. Jeff Niemann
Nvm, I remember MLB Network has a bottom line that blocks stats and shit
ill watch Sun Sports
Rotation: 1. James Shields 2. Matt Garza 3. David Price 4. Scott Kazmir 5. Jeff Niemann
and is it only me and walkoffwalk here?
Rotation: 1. James Shields 2. Matt Garza 3. David Price 4. Scott Kazmir 5. Jeff Niemann
I didn't realize Longoria was in such a bad slump
.053/.143/.053, 1 for 19 with 0R no XBHs 1 RBI & 2 BBs but only 6Ks
He needs to take like the series after the road trip off to heal up
his D has gone from great to "ok" als
Willy should play a few games at 3B
Rotation: 1. James Shields 2. Matt Garza 3. David Price 4. Scott Kazmir 5. Jeff Niemann

I really doubt any of those guys will get into the HoF

trying to control it
slowing down everything including his motion and not repeating it. His AS is different almost everytime on a FB
plus look where he lands after pitches
it reminds me a lot of kazmir before he got sent down. When a pitch is outside he doesnt follow through and finish so the ball gets released too early
Hickey needs some serious time with him.
Maddon needs to jump all over that. The guy is falling apart.

This is totally frustrating.
Especially when you’re trying to figure out if its a kid thats not ready, or a pitching coach, or just a bad game, bad pitch selection… the first thing you want to jump at is Hickey and assume thats the issue but its so hard to measure a pitching coaches performance, especially with two of our pitchers seeming to do well, but others struggling. Feh.
by BrokeBearMountain on Jul 4, 2009 9:08 PM EDT reply actions
Hickey has a history of making pitchers worse or pitchers getting better as soon as they leave Hickey
Of course you can’t look at just one or two pitchers and you can’t look at talent level. The fact of the matter are pitchers get worse with Jim and better without Jim. It doesn’t matter if it is Shawn Camp, Taylor Bucholz, Jason Hammel, or soon to be David Price.
Do you have something to back this up?
I thought the two bits of research on Hickey here showed that guys managed to stay about the same, with some improving ever so slightly and some getting a pinch worse…
by BrokeBearMountain on Jul 4, 2009 9:11 PM EDT up reply actions
Overall pitchers got worse
Essentially I found a statistically significant (95%) worsening in pitchers FIP when they are with Hickey compared to without Hickey. I also found that on average pitchers saw a worsening of FIP year over year with Hickey. The significance of this wasn’t as strong as the p-value was like .15 or so.

I think Hickey needs to go ASAP
Perhaps he doesn’t make the pitchers worse. The evidence is really strong that pitchers do in fact get worse under him. However perhaps it is another reason or just crappy luck. The thing is there is absolutely zero evidence that pitchers improve in any way under Hickey.
So what is the upside and the downside? Getting rid of Hickey is all reward and zero risk.
The worst thing that happens is that Hickey had no effect and the decline was due to another reason. Then the same problem would take place under the new guy. No difference.
The best thing is that the new pitching coach actually makes pitchers better.
Frankly its a no brainer for that reason. Tons of upside and no downside.
Well I guess having to pay extra would be the downside
Performance wise there is nothing bad that could happen.
I want maddon
to take more control of his pitchers though, I mean if hickey is the reason, then he definietely needs to go.

I’m not impressed with Niemann period. I think he will be a below average starter with the Rays but can be an average reliever.
Speaking of Sonny...
He must be pissed. He has a strong argument that he is the third best starting pitcher in the Rays org and a slight argument for 2nd.
Yet he is sitting in the minors.
