Brad Ziegler had a scoreless inning streak. Brad Ziegler had not met BJ Upton.

i was trying to combine both in an animated gif
still had the same feelings for tonight
do we have to burn the rays fans who buy and wear that hat?

Well that ended well.
10 game road trip coming out of the ASB. Rays need to win at least eight or they might as well start tuning up their golf swings. But the way they’re playing on the road, they’ll lose seven of them, and that’ll be that.
In other news, Keith Law thinks players who roided up should be rewarded for their misdeeds in the same season they’re caught cheating. I’m not saying that Manny should never get a look at the Hall of Fame, but this kind of mindset is akin to thinking it was OK for Shawn Merriman to be elected to the Pro Bowl after getting busted.
I can't wait until we trade him for a reliever.

Complete TEAM FAIL
Everyone was waiting for the other shoe to drop when they went back out on the road. That 18-7 run just couldn’t last. But they didn’t have to fail this spectacularly.
I have not enjoyed watching baseball this last week. I hope they can at least start getting themselves into games.
DFA Dioner already.

Actually, this is about as close to the apokolypse as you're going to get, in case you haven't realized, the Yankees and Red Sox are not losing long streaks of road games.
I can't wait until we trade him for a reliever.

This off season will show what Friedman's made of
It may not be a quantifying comment, but the old adage about ‘can never have enough pitching (SP)’ never rang so loud
by Raymondo on Jul 6, 2009 8:56 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yes, yes you can.
And haven’t we said “This is the off-season that shows Friedman’s true talent level” every off-season? People should be less dramatic about this stuff. He’s a really good GM with a really good supporting cast.
by R.J. Anderson on Jul 6, 2009 10:22 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
There is no way that 5 starting pitchers went from being good to sucking.
It’s either an anomaly or a problem in the process, but it’s not talent.
I can't wait until we trade him for a reliever.

Last 10 games
Boston: 5-5
Us: 6-4
Quit being dumb.

What did they do before that?
Dropped a series to the Natinals. Everyboy swoons and everybody booms. Its a long season.

In other news, unlike this team, I did not fail tonight.

The question today should be
‘will we finish 500’?
I don’t see the NL on our schedule anymore this season
by Raymondo on Jul 6, 2009 7:24 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Is it?
Consider this, we’re 13-5 v NL and 3 games under v everyone else
by Raymondo on Jul 6, 2009 11:04 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
If you honestly thing this team is in danger of losing 82+ games I can't help you.
by R.J. Anderson on Jul 6, 2009 11:07 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
So then you're admitting it's not likely
Because I’ve seen a lot of strange things happen that I would not consider probable, or even worthy of discussion.

Does this disturb you at all?
We have two former players in the ASG and all we have to show for them is a AAA player
comments?

I can barely sleep at night.

We need to stop giving players away
Cantu for Medlock
Hammel for Rodriguez
Sean Camp, Bobby Seay
I’m not saying these guys are netter than what we have, but dammit get something for them
by Raymondo on Jul 6, 2009 10:00 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Why stop there.
Ridgeway for Aybar
Young/Harris for Garza/Bartlett

McClung for Balfour
Signing Pena for nothing. Friedman clearly has no clue

by Tommy Rancel on Jul 6, 2009 10:20 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
well, the Balfour trade worked out for everybody
More or less. Because, really, “Grant Balfour: Emergency Fifth Starter!” would only last one episode.
(although we are coming to discover that McClung only works properly with the optional Mike Maddux accessory)
by morineko on Jul 7, 2009 12:05 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Cantu's case was odd.
The whole “I’m not going to report” saga drained his value.
Also, Sean Burroughs was a nice return for Dewon, and Edwin/Tiffany was fantastic for Carter/Baez.
by R.J. Anderson on Jul 6, 2009 11:04 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
And really, it's Jorge Cantu.
One good season in his career to date, and that came last year.

Plus, his face.
I can't wait until we trade him for a reliever.

Good call, lawn gnome defense should be outlawed
1.7 ain’t half bad, though, and his offense was sexy that year.

I'm still baffled as to how
the Rays couldn’t manage to win one game in this series. In fact, games two and three weren’t even competitive.
Hello.

Look at the numbers on Burrell and Longoria the last month for starters
by Raymondo on Jul 6, 2009 10:04 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I had never even heard of Tommy hunter
I figured he was some pizza delivery guy they signed off the streets.
Look at Burrell’s numbers the entire season. He hasn’t done much (although I still like the signing).
Hello.

i like you glassman
but posters like you in Cleveland are called Shappies, disciples of Mark Shapiro, no matter how good or bad the result
i have gone on record as saying Friedman is outstanding, but those deals suck, not to mention Dukes for Gibson
by Raymondo on Jul 6, 2009 10:11 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I think you replied to the wrong post.
Either way, I agree that it hurts a little to see guys leave and succeed. The problem with having so much big league depth is sometimes guys get moved for less because you have no room for them.
by rglass44 on Jul 6, 2009 10:21 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I thought he looked very good
more so than the Rays just making him look good. he was helped by an expanded zone though

Hope i'm wrong, but many things need to chamge
SP, defense, inconsistent hitting and baserunning
by Raymondo on Jul 6, 2009 12:52 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Most of the season, only 1 or 2 of those things have worked together
Bats are hot, pitching and defense goes down the shitter. Pitching is solid (like last week vs. the Blue Jays) then the bats go cold (even though we did win 2-3, but they weren’t high-scoring games).
