So after this homestand the Rays will probably close the wild card gap to somewhere around 3 games.

this feels like a really critical series to me.

Maybe the pace was unattainable
but I’d venture to guess that on paper the Rays have a legitimate top 5 offense in baseball. They’re very selective, have a ton of speed, and can get extra base hits in bunches. They weren’t as good as they were playing, but they aren’t nearly this bad, either.
