Jim Callis on the Rays Remaining Unsigned Picks
Link, and the information you want:
LeVon Washington, of Seeking over-slot bonus
Kenny Diekroeger, ss Expected to attend Stanford
Todd Glaesmann, of Expected to get over-slot bonus
Luke Bailey, c Expected to get over-slot bonus
Kevin James, lhp Expected to get over-slot bonus
Derek Dennis, ss May get over-slot bonus
I'm not sure what the difference in upside is between the two HS shortstops, but if the Rays sign Dennis and pass on Diekroeger, they receive an additional second round pick next season. No way of knowing who falls to that pick, but it's better than nothing. I have to imagine one of the two will land in the organization.

I still think Diekroeger is way more likely than Dennis to sign

Does anyone get slot any more?
I see the Rangers doubled what was expected of a pick named McBride
Also, the Rays are closing in on deals with several of their top draft picks: No. 3 OF Todd Glaesmann, No. 4 C Luke Bailey, No. 5 1B Jeff Malm and No. 9 LHP Kevin James, of Whitefish Bay (Wi.) HS. No. 1 pick INF LeVon Washington and No. 2. SS Kenny Diekroeger have not signed.
Come on Diekroeger,
I like you a helluva lot more than Dennis. Please sign.
I didn't say I wasn't flawless, but I damn sho' don't tarnish!
OT: Didn't know where to place this but it's a head scratcher
Watching the M’s-Yankees game last night where Sabathia dominated except for one pitch, Josh Wlson takes him deep
Yep Josh Wilson
High Five!

I didn't say I wasn't flawless, but I damn sho' don't tarnish!
This is not encouraging...
From Keith Law’s chat:

ANY word on Matzek? They would have one of the best drafts (from a prediction-standpoint) if they could finalize that deal, no?
Keith Law (2:31 PM)
If you told me right now that there would be one unsigned first-rounder on Tuesday morning, my first pick would be Matzek, and second would be Levon Washington.

fuck levon. that guy is pissing me off.
Let’s just take the 1st rounder next year and give Diekroeger some extra cash to sign.
Pretty much
I think we’re likely to get a better player with the 31st pick of the draft next year than LeVon. Not so much with Diekroeger.

The issue is, do we take a better player next year.
I don’t know, I’m not a huge LeVon fan and would be okay if we offered him last years slot and said take it or leave it. Diekroeger I’m not okay with not signing. We knew his background, make sure the kid is signable before the draft.
Tools Whore
If he was signable he probably would have been drafted in the first round

Hello, yep, its me
Bailey, Malm are the 2 I wanted posted but I really hope we get LeVon and Diekroger also
Don’t want as much as those guys but Glaesmann and James would be awesome too.
1. James Shields 2. Scott Kazmir 3. Matt Garza 4. David Price 5. Jeff Niemann
I don't understand people
Levon Washington was going crazy with excitement after being drafted. Called the Gators and told them he was going to sign with the Rays. Was spouting off about how he was going to sign right away and get his pro career started. Then…..silence.
Boras is behind this, we know that. But at what point is the agent working against his client’s interest? If it was me, I would call Boras and tell him I was going to fire him if he didn’t get me signed ASAP.
I saw a story a couple weeks ago on Outside the Lines or E:60
ot some show like that.
Where a kid was drafted early was advised not to sign because the bonus wasn’t what they wanted. Played independent ball and was drafted again the next year. I believe he didn’t sign again. Long story short he works at Jiffy Lube now.

He was only drafted by the Rays one of those times
Poor Rockies.

Not to even mention
that it was a bit of a reach to even draft him where he was drafted. He should be thrilled with slot.

He could be thinking that if his shoulder was healthy he'd have gone higher.

He would be thinking wrong
Nobody needs another Willy Taveras. He would do well to remember that.
