Darin Downs Suffers Fractured Skull; is Alert, Conscious, in ICU
Horrific news from Stacy Long:
Biscuits pitcher Darin Downs is in intensive care with a fractured skull at Birmingham's St. Vincent's Hospital after being hit by a line drive Monday.
Downs is alert and conscious, and doctors are monitoring some cranial bleeding and swelling, team spokesman Jon Laaser said.
Our prayers are with Downs and his family.

only a matter of time until pitchers start to wear helmets. hopefully noone has to die like the base coaches first.
do you remember that red sox pitcher
that got hit square in the face years back? that was brutal, helmets might not be a bad idea….. wish him a full recovery

I don't see how a guy hasn't been brained with a shattered bat yet.
Adam Dunn at least is trying to be accountable.
I can't help that I make some things look easier than they really are.
