A lot of pretty names that haven't signed yet

I’m guessing that most of the top 5 fall into the category of ‘signed, but can’t officially sign yet because they’re over slot’. Diekroger and James are the two I’m worried most about not signing. Dennis and Maddux going to college are foregone conclusions.

Not necessarily for Johnson

He was hurt during the spring(big shocker) so we’re following him this summer. It sounds like the right offer would net him.

I thought for sure LeVon would pull a Beckham and sign very soon

Haven’t heard anything about Diekreoger good or bad

I really want him and Bailey the most

But

he’s also a student with a 3.5 GPA with a scholarship to Stanford and in a position of no financial need whatsoever. His dad is a hedge fund manager. If he decides that this is his opportunity to go to a top school, he may well end up there.

Also

The one semi-promising thing with Malm is that at least he’s still playing summer wood bat league. He led his American Legion team to the state championship on Sunday.

Malm's team has made it to the Legion World Series

The bad news is that it means he’ll still be playing games all the way past the signing deadline. Last I’d read, he was still 50/50 as to whether he was going to sign.

I have to say I'm slightly disappointed with Nommensen's showing so far.

For a guy with renowned OBP skills, he’s pretty much stinking up the joint.

His IsoD at HV is .107. At EIU his senior year it was .122

The problem is he doesn’t have crappy Ohio Valley Conference pitching to feast on for his BA.

"Making progress"

http://www.tampabay.com/sports/baseball/rays/tampa-bay-rays-say-slumping-bj-upton-needs-to-think-less-stop-beating/1027227

“We’ve made significant progress with a number of them and others we haven’t made very much progress at all,” executive VP Andrew Friedman said. “Our hope is to sign them all, but we’re also prepared in the event that we don’t.”

Because several top picks had tempting college offers — No. 1 INF/OF LeVon Washington, Florida; No. 2 INF Ken Diekroeger, Stanford; No. 3 OF Todd Glaesmann, Texas A&M — the Rays spent more during the international signing period, adding several teenage prospects. If they don’t sign any of the top three, they get “same-slot compensation” in next year’s draft — an extra pick at the same position. (If Washington, the 30th pick, doesn’t sign, they would get pick 30-A in addition to their regular first-round pick.)

“We took a lot of tough signs this year and, as a result, we were more aggressive in Latin America than we otherwise would have been,” Friedman said. "Our preference is to sign them all and have the kids that we signed in Latin America, but we’ll see how it lines up.
