Now Boston has to go to New York and face the Yankees for 4. Let's hope that the Yankees realize they're a better team then Boston and completely wrecks them
I can't wait until we trade him for a reliever.
I'm thrilled they were unable to pull a trade for a starter. And by getting rid of Masterson, they spent bullpen depth that they really couldn't afford to lose.
I can't wait until we trade him for a reliever.
If Delcarmen and Okajima turn into their 2008 selves
Their bullpen is sooo fucked

And if they turn into their 2007 selves?

I'm sure the Yankees smell blood in the water; a series sweep would probably lock up the division for them.

Okay shameless plug
But I just put up a new analysis on Hernandez and Navi. Once again Dioner comes up short, and that was before the solid start by Price tonight.
Need a lineup? No problem...just give me paper, pen, scissors, a hat, and a blindfold
remember it was Raymondo who said don't get Lee
in the ALE, he’s not nearly dominate
No matter what happens
I still would of loved to have Halladay
1. James Shields 2. Scott Kazmir 3. Matt Garza 4. David Price 5. Jeff Niemann
But we always beat Halladay
We need those wins

9 innings where he gives up 4 ER?
Clearly, the death throes.
Maybe I’m just an old fashioned BJ suck-off-er. (Good call Sandy)

he would get us them the easier way
1. James Shields 2. Scott Kazmir 3. Matt Garza 4. David Price 5. Jeff Niemann
I'm in an argument with a 'nation' fan that the Sox don't miss Manny
he says Bay more than makes up for him
Manny knew how to play the Monstah
Bay seems lost out there
I can't help that I make some things look easier than they really are.

Both are all-hit no-field OF's.
Manny’s the better hitter though, career .889 OPS hitter versus a career 1.005 OPS hitter.
I dunno. It's very much possible that Manny wasn't ever going to play hard for them again. Manny at full potential is better then Bay bar none. Pissy-bitch-in-Boston Manny isn't worth a whole lot.
I can't wait until we trade him for a reliever.
Not-trying Manny hit .347/.473/.587 in July before he was dealt

when he was too "injured" to be in the lineup. they were questioning his heart as much as his play

Sox have a long history of easing the transition of their stars out the door.
They badmouthed Nomar, Roger, and Pedro before they left and the fans are left remembering the “bad actions” of their stars out the door and not the glory years. I would expect them to do the same to Beckett and Bay.

Which Roger did you think I was talking about?
Roger Millar?

For some reason, I completely missed the fact that you refrenced him at all.

At least you know what I'm talking about and it's not something I made up in my mind

He only festered there for about a week before they delt him; I wouldn't take the entire month into consideration.
I don’t think you can take stats too much into account because he went from content to indifferent over the course of a few days.
You can say it was kneejerk to trade him; I dunno. But they were tired of him and his crap, and he seemed pretty tired of Boston.
I can't wait until we trade him for a reliever.
Win or lose, its gonna be a interest end of the year.
we will make a return to the playoffs

So, 4 in Seattle and 3 in Aneheim.
And the Mariners are putting up a fight. And their Defense UZR has been off the charts for the last two months or so.
I can't wait until we trade him for a reliever.
Let's hope that Felix has a rare off-day and that we hit the Angels at the start of their cooldown
But, shit. What a performance by the boys tonight. David looked BEASTLY out there. He finally came in to righties. And the HR have returned in force. Go PTB! Go Los! Go Barty! Go B-Day Boy!
Two wins over the Sox in one day. Savor it.
So long, Sweet Lime!
3 in Seattle, 3 in Anaheim.

CC has tied his career high for walks in a season at 37.

The 3rd strike to Varitek was just cruel
That ball scooted back over the inside corner of the plate at the point of no return. JP so silly.
So long, Sweet Lime!
Varitek thinks everything's inside because he hovers his hands over the plate.
I don’t understand why umps don’t just toss him from the game. He’s always arguing calls, and he’s always wrong.
I can't wait until we trade him for a reliever.
Well, he can't argue with his wife anymore...

Sweeney finishes off a 10 pitch AB with a 2 out single, puts men on 1st and 2nd
I can't wait until we trade him for a reliever.
This is beautiful. But it should also be a reminder that we've been underachieving on the road too.
I can't wait until we trade him for a reliever.
PTB on his game back from the bench
hits a homer when it actually matters. PTB is slowly making a comeback

This. He hasn't gotten hot all season. He's 'been getting hot' about a million times.
I can't wait until we trade him for a reliever.
yeah
its like waiting for BJ to rediscover his power stroke, or Navi to return to his 2008 self. I think Pat Burrell seems to be a guy who hasn’t been able to convert well to being a full-time DH, being a career position player.
Or to the AL

I still think he's going to Aubrey Huff it.
He’s not going to wake up like we expect him too this season, but next year he’ll be a one-man wrecking crew.
I can't wait until we trade him for a reliever.
Burrell has a reputation of being an up and down player in his career.
Never hit for average, hit .209 in 2003. He compares to Huff in terms of ups and downs, but different type being Huff was more of a contact hitter and PTB is more like a Pena/Thome type.
The Rays are really making the Red Sox
look old. Biggest weakness of the Sox has to be the age and lack of athleticism besides Ellsbury and Pedroia. That is one aching bunch.
I predicted all the way back at the beginning of the season they were going to have pitching problems.
I also said they would finish 3rd in the division and miss the playoffs. I’ve since said the Rays aren’t going to make it because they wouldn’t catch Boston. No matter what happens, I’m going to be both a genius and an idiot.
I can't wait until we trade him for a reliever.
I'm saying that their Bullpen has been a mess as of late. Blame it on fatigue or slumping, either way, they're not good right now.
But I harped more on the starting rotation at the beginning of the year. It was Beckett, Lester, Wakefield, Dice-K, and Buchholtz. Buchholtz didn’t even make it out of spring training and was replaced by Penny. Dice-K regressed like everyone said he would and got ‘injured’. Now Wake is hurt too and Smoltz is in the rotation. Their starting pitching is not good. They only have 2 reliable starters right now.
I can't wait until we trade him for a reliever.
the rotation is sure a mess right now
agreed there. They have gotten by with only 3 reliable starters and one is on the DL. Wow what a difference a year makes, Dice-K was awesome last year and this year he is in the doghouse.
Dice-K was rediculously lucky last year. And the year before. He couldn't keep walking as many people as he did.
I can't wait until we trade him for a reliever.
Daisuke was lucky last year.
Look at FIP/tRA, not ERA please.

That trade has certainly been weird
Helps & Hurts us at the same time. It’s kinda nice he’s getting the chance to play when no one wanted him
by Transplanted on Aug 6, 2009 12:42 AM EDT up reply actions
That's not fair.
The Rays didn’t want to get rid of him, but he wasn’t getting promoted over Aki. The team didn’t get much in return for him, but it was by design as the trade was more to get him to a situation where he could play and honor their verbal commitment to him then to try to get something in return.
On the plus side, if he wasn’t traded, who knows what the team would be trying to do with Zobrist right now. He could still be platooning in the OF for all we know.
I can't wait until we trade him for a reliever.
