Root for the Yankees
We could use some help from Oakland tonight as well, but a Yankees and Rays sweep this weekend puts the Rays more than in the race.

And their replacement for Masterson is him or Byrd
whoopsie

No it isn't.
Traber is a long-man/LOOGY type.
Their replacement for Masterson is Bard.

It's a crime
that this game isn’t on standard cable. Really, ESPN? You had to give this one to MLB Network?
I would pay to see Boston’s epic collapse in the 4th.
I assume Lowrie got hurt?

Yeah and hes injured again

its hilarious
that the Yankees FO is going to limit his innings late in the year during the stretch run
good question
Phil Hughes isn’t going to be moved because he is doing a awesome job in front of Mo. I’m not sure if anyone on the farm is going to help. They already have Miltre in the rotation who sucks
I don't know exactly what overrated means in this case.
But I do think Chamberlain has a chance to be an excellent pitcher. He is not there yet, but has shown flashes, much like Price. He is just 23 and already has some major league experience and success.
lol Boston is so screwed
5hr game tuesday, run over wednesday and getting knocked around tonight, and they ahve a lot of baseball for a few days
I dunno
They’re handling it OK.
I wish the Yanks were pounding the bullpen harder. In my mind, both teams are screwing their pens right now.
It would not matter.
Francona is doing the right thing. Who cares what happens to Traber or how many the Yankees score off him? Chances are the game was lost after the 4th inning. On the other hand, NY can’t allow Boston to get back into it. They have to stop the bleeding as their pitchers are walking everyone. So Boston may be in better shape for the rest of the series. They have used one after-thought pitcher while the Yankees have already used 3 reasonably important ones, and they have all thrown a lot of pitches.
Plus, there is a decent chance that Beckett goes deep into the game.
Unfortunately,
Seattle is doing the same thing, keeping Vargas in despite his allowing 8 runs. They are saving their bullpen for the Rays!
motion to quit calling pedroia elf
because elves are generally considered an attractive race.
call him dwarf instead. or dopey or sneezy. whatever else
Yankees acquire Chad Gaudin from the Padres for a player to be named later
this comes from the Yankees broadcast
3.68 FIP, and 4.12 tRA this year in 105 innings
seems like maybe a decent buy low, what with his 5.13 ERA
by Matt Slowinski on Aug 6, 2009 10:05 PM EDT up reply actions
yeah, and his HR/FB is pretty low, and Yankee Stadium won't do that any wonders
even so, his regressed tRA is better than league average, so that’s probably all he is, a filler, average starter.
by Matt Slowinski on Aug 6, 2009 10:08 PM EDT up reply actions
yeah, even so, he seems like an improvement over Sergio Mitre, unfortunately

Texas fading, Red Sox fading
Rays are poised to make a move now. This road trip is perhaps the most important of the season.
3 in Seattle, 3 in Anahiem
LETS GET THIS SHIT DONE
2009 Rays Baseball: Still Kings of the Sunshine State
I would like it very much if we could sweep Seattle and take 2/3 from the Angels
That’s not as improbable as it sounds. The Angels are bound to cool down.
If we can beat King Felix, I could see a sweep in Seattle
2009 Rays Baseball: Still Kings of the Sunshine State
If Niemann's on the mound, he gets so much run support no matter who's pitching
I could see them beating Felix tomorrow.
From the looks at the rest of the series
Burnett vs Beckett = TOSSUP
Sabathia vs Buckholz = Big edge New York
Pettitte vs Lester = Slight edge Boston
Pedroia just got beaned and it says on field delay
ejections?
