LMAO!

Can’t beat the Mariners even when we get to Felix. Second worst loss of the season.

Hello.

7-13 against the West

That’s it freaking pathetic. Not to mention JP is still definitely not as good as he should be vs LHH, which is odd

by Transplanted on Aug 8, 2009 2:01 AM EDT reply actions

That is not okay

Consider a different insult please. Thanks.

How about that Jerramy Stevens drugging some girl and then sodomizing her

The best part is the school swept everything under the rug and hasn’t fielded a legitimate team since then. Karma sucks.

I can't help that I make some things look easier than they really are.

Yep, same here.

Seeing JP get lit up is like seeing aliens land in your backyard….it’s a mind-numbing experience.

while I enjoy blaming Navarro

anyone think this is what Hickey told Howell and Navarro?

by Dbullsfan on Aug 8, 2009 2:14 AM EDT up reply actions

I dunno why he went inside

He looked like he stopped going away after not getting S3

Depends

Did JP shake Navi off?

before you give me the dumb 'release him' response

Howell has not pitched well at all his last 4x out

His ERA has gone from 1.81 to 2.14

2 HR

4 BB

walked the lead off man twice, wasn’r so lucky last night

took an outstanding play by Longoria in Game 1 v BOS

by Top Gun Numba 1 on Aug 8, 2009 10:41 AM EDT up reply actions

An outstanding play by Longoria?

Howell got a great hitter to completely mishit the ball. Hell, the hit before was an infield hit. He closed out the 2nd game against Boston after Drew battled him for a leadoff walk. You are so ridiculous.

by td32 on Aug 8, 2009 10:57 AM EDT up reply actions

The walks are discouraging

He is still missing bats and getting called strikes.

Can David Ortiz please send Dioner Navarro some of his PED's? K? Thanks

by matthan on Aug 8, 2009 11:05 AM EDT up reply actions

Bases loaded, one out, how'd that happen?

His last four games have not been good and i’ve suppported it with stats

by Raymondo on Aug 8, 2009 11:25 AM EDT up reply actions

We've only won 7 road series all year

But the only 3 against good teams(.500+) are Boston, NYY & Florida

Other series wins-NYM, TORx2, KC, and a split in there to BAL.

That’s bad considering they’ve lost series to MIN, CLE, CHW, OAK, TEX, SEA, NYY, BOS, BAL, COL

by Transplanted on Aug 8, 2009 2:17 AM EDT reply actions

Oops, yeah I knew something looked wrong

I barely remembered that we played COL, but the point remains

by Transplanted on Aug 8, 2009 2:20 AM EDT up reply actions

yep it does

the Rays stink on the road

by sofladude77 on Aug 8, 2009 2:21 AM EDT up reply actions

Mostly the Bullpen

I don;t have the splits on the road, but I just keep remembering very bad bullpen pitching is a lot of those games

by Transplanted on Aug 8, 2009 2:22 AM EDT up reply actions

Yeah Balfour has been horrific on the road

Howell struggles on the road a lot too, the whole pen does for some reason

by Transplanted on Aug 8, 2009 2:31 AM EDT up reply actions

I think though the road woes come from

the starters not going as deep into games, meaning more IP for the ’pen, making the bullpen less effective.

by sofladude77 on Aug 8, 2009 3:29 AM EDT up reply actions

it's the right move

hopefully for Michel’s sake he can get picked up by someone where he can play or at least be on a ML roster.

by Dbullsfan on Aug 8, 2009 2:22 AM EDT up reply actions

Michel wasn't a horrible catcher

but no doubt its good to have Greg Zahn who I remember from the ’97 Marlins Championship.

by sofladude77 on Aug 8, 2009 2:23 AM EDT up reply actions

We need Davis to be Hughes-esque

When he comes up, we just struggle when the starters don’t get into the 8th sometimes

by Transplanted on Aug 8, 2009 2:36 AM EDT up reply actions

I'd put him in the pen

I know it may cost a bit with service time or w/e I don’t know a lot of those details. I do think that in the position we are in (only 2 1/2 games out with a favorable schedule) that we should have the best possible 25 man roster out there. I think that Davis would be better in the pen than 1 of the loogys or Bennett.

by Dbullsfan on Aug 8, 2009 2:36 AM EDT up reply actions

Few things

Hickey pitches do trend significantly towards curves so this isn’t surprising. Then again Howell is probably Hickeys only main bright spot so i don’t wanna blame hickey.

Can David Ortiz please send Dioner Navarro some of his PED's? K? Thanks

by matthan on Aug 8, 2009 2:49 AM EDT via mobile reply actions

you dumb for suggesting this

we can’t win every coinflip

I can't help that I make some things look easier than they really are.

by Sandy Kazmir on Aug 8, 2009 3:27 AM EDT up reply actions

What exactly did I suggest?

Have you not noticed the numerous other posters that mentioned Hickey? I didn’t blame Hickey. I just mentioned a fact. Hickey pitchers throw significantly more curveballs over time. That is a fact.

And it wasn’t a coinflip. Not even close to a coinflip. 1 strike away and 1 run up is pretty damn close to closing the deal.

Can David Ortiz please send Dioner Navarro some of his PED's? K? Thanks

by matthan on Aug 8, 2009 11:04 AM EDT up reply actions

After the 8th it was a coinflip who would win.

Two good defenses and bullpens with decent lineups in a pitchers park. It was either us or them and it could have gone either way. If you would like to see it graphically, look below:

by Sandy Kazmir on Aug 8, 2009 3:16 AM EDT reply actions

What JP had to say:
“I was just thinking ‘Get it out, get it outside,’ and it stayed and then he hit it,” Howell said. “I saw the whole thing and I heard the hit, and when I heard it, that’s when you know. If you can hear it like that, you know, as a pitcher.”

by plasticman on Aug 8, 2009 4:18 AM EDT reply actions

JP IN, GAME...burned to the ground :(

I can't wait until we trade him for a reliever.

by Sandy Kazmir on Aug 8, 2009 12:09 PM EDT up reply actions

As terrible and as stupid as this loss was

We have to focus on winning this series. If you look at this series before last night and had to guess which game we were going to lose, you had to guess it was going to come against Felix. We still just have to focus on winning this series and taking the next 2, which is more than plausible. Also, anyone have the PitchFx on J.P.’s first AB (I believe it was against Guttierez)? On that 3-2 pitch it looked like he struck him out.

by BJ the Bossman on Aug 8, 2009 2:21 PM EDT reply actions

Not a justification.

It’s not OK to swallow this loss because it was the game we expected the team to lose anyway. The Rays had this game won twice, and the bullpen crapped themselves. This is a shitty loss and another game that goes on the already long list of games this team had no business losing.

I can't wait until we trade him for a reliever.
