To think the team had already sewn up the second best record in team history by the start of September

Has this been mentioned?
LF Carl Crawford loudly confronted DH Pat Burrell in the Rays clubhouse before batting practice Wednesday, prompting manager Joe Maddon to meet privately with both players.
“It was nothing,‘’ Maddon said. "Honestly I talked to both parties, everything’s good.’’
Crawford declined to elaborate; Burrell was not available pre-game.
We'll we win 75 games?

Unlikely unless we stay at the .125 winning pace
CIN is currently 10th with a 67-79 record, 6 games behind us. OAK, MIL, HOU also could fall faster than us too.

75 wins is what 10th will likely have
so if we can go 2-14 in the last 16 games, we’ll have a shot

#10 probably won't get us anything significantly better than #15
There’s a huge drop after the top couple guys, and then there are about 50 guys who are pretty interchangeable. At this point anyway. Things usually change pretty significantly once the year starts, especially with high schoolers.

It's mostly just shits and giggles
at how bad we can fall

For the lulz
We're making the Mets look good in September
Rays now have the 15th pick and with a semi-tough schedule coming up(@TEX, & SEA+NYY @ Home), we could legitimately fall below .500 & it would not be a shock. SP has been fine or at least decent enough to get by, but the bullpen can’t stop melting down & w/o Pena, offense looks so bad, the remaining games even against BAL & TOR could be battles.
Is Maddon on the potential hot seat for 2010?
Given the September collapse and the small window to win, does he need a good 2010 to protect his job or does his contract do that already? We’ve seen a few managers get fired by bad end of years & beginning of years recently.
Besides for the actual losing, what bothers me most
Is that this perpetuates the idea that our team was a one year wonder. While we were talked about fairly decently this off-season, I wouldn’t be surprised if most commentators write us off at this point.
Blarg…. :-(
